GDIT has an opportunity available for a Generator Field Service Representative (FSR) supporting Tactical and Commercial Systems. This position requires someone with a current and active Secret Clearance. Work will be done in contested areas of CENTCOM AOR in the Middle East

How a Generator Field Service Representative will make an impact:

Perform Technical Inspections (TIs), verification inspections, preventive maintenance/repairs on various power generation equipment, tactical utility, precise power-generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipment to include tactical wheeled vehicles.  

Troubleshoot, rebuild or repair starters, alternators, generators, fuel injectors, voltage regulators, switches, control circuits, etc.  Inspect and repair, portable heater, fuel and electrical systems.  

Use different welding techniques and skills to repair equipment.  

Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents.  

Uses complex electronic test instruments, computer based diagnostic equipment and load banks. Performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Lead.

Generator and power plant operations, electrical generation and distribution, diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, maintenance and repair, principles of electrical and electronic circuitry.

Repair tactical and commercial Generators.

Analyze and interpret US Army and/or Commercial Technical Manuals with relation to equipment.

Verify serviceability of equipment, determine the economic reparability of the item and determine the extent of maintenance effort and repair parts required to restore the item to the prescribed serviceable condition.

Maintains and provides for bench stock, petroleum, oil and lubricant (POL), automated maintenance and mobility products, Test, Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), hazardous waste, contaminated waste control, and safety procedures. Maintains historical and training records and performs administrative duties for technical orders (TO) and files.

Generates configuration documentation (e.g. diagrams and electrical load requirements) for deployed powered ground support configurations. Plans and fabricates electrical power distribution equipment including circuit protection and sizing, power and lightning grounding schemes, cables and connectors to interface with military and commercial power systems and sub-systems.

Maintain accountability of tools, accountability, and control.

TDY may be required in Iraq, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Djibouti, or other locations as assigned.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree AA or equivalent

 Required Experience: + 3 yrs related experience

 Required Technical Skills: Other job related certifications are a plus

Security Clearance Level: Active Secret Clearance

 Required Skills and Abilities: Must be able to perform Technical Inspections (TIs), verification inspections, preventive maintenance/repairs on various power generation equipment, tactical utility, precise power-generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipment to include tactical wheeled vehicles.  

Must have a valid Driver License, Active US Passport and ability to pass CRC training.

Able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.

Able to climb in and out of military/civilian vehicles and related equipment.

Able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat of up to 135 degrees, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet. Uses complex electronic test instruments, computer based diagnostic equipment and load banks.
