Generator Maintenance Manager (OCN) - Syria

VGS is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill positions for the Generator Maintenance Manager in support of a project in Syria. 

 All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

YOUR IMPACT

Serve as the Generator Maintenance Manager for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services of spot generation and client interfaceDirect, oversee, and train the performance of all hands-on routine inspection, preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, troubleshoots, corrective and emergency repairs on generator sets and associated local control systems.Report all special occurrences and impacts to customer operations, such as emergency outages, and corrective actions taken to maintain service.Develop scheduled maintenance plans and routes to ensure the regular maintenance and oversight of all spot generation units across multiple sites.  Ensure assigned repair crews are able to respond to the location of failure and restore power production within contractually-directed timelines.Review, analyze, and track all logs and records of meter readings, operational statuses, and equipment configurations, monitoring equipment efficiency and failure rates for trending analysisMaintain close relationships with client to ensure all their requirements are fully met in accordance with the contractual requirementsRepresent VGS during weekly conferences calls, negotiations, other meetings in the field and be able to speak authoritatively while recognizing the limitations of own professional knowledge and credentialsProperly allocate, schedule, and maintain constant awareness of available resources including personnel, space, equipment, and fundingTake direct charge of working operations of spot generation equipment in special situations such as major equipment breakdowns, operating emergencies, or during installation of new equipment systems.  Report all findings to senior management.Oversee, audit, and direct all subcontracted levels of effort relative to generator maintenance and provision, to include equipment rentals and IDIQ contracts, to ensure that leased equipment is maintained to OEM standards and is able to meet customer power demands at all timesAbide by and adhere to all requirements in General Order #1 in conformity with US military standards and practicesPrepare and author all required CDRL’s, reports, standard operating procedures, and other required documentation as requested by the client and senior management, to include generator maintenance schedules and equipment downtime projections, ensuring that all OEM standards are maintained Follow all VGS standard policies and practicesComplete records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activitiesObserve and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment and ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times by all employeesPromote teamwork and actively participate in quality improvement processPromote safety awareness and comply with all applicable safety procedures and regulations, performs other duties and activities as directedEnsure all environmental and regulatory requirements and constraints are met at all timesSupervise, manage, and schedule multi-skilled level operations and maintenance team members, power generation maintainers, and ancillary support service personnel to meet defined service schedules and respond to emergency, urgent, and routine maintenance requestsComplete performance evaluations, identify and implement training programs, address and relay grievances, and administer disciplinary actions as required to subordinate multi-national employeesMaintain technical library and record-keeping which documents all procedures necessary to accomplish assigned responsibilityResponsible for department communications activities, to include coordinating, leading, and participating in department meetingsIdentify department risk/liability and develop work plans to manage ongoing risks as it relates to the operation of the power generation facilities, power delivery, and power qualityRespond to emergency calls regarding power generation equipment breakdowns and unit outages. Utilize MAXIMO or similar computerized maintenance management system as system of record for all maintenance-related actionsDetermine and distribute work assignments, instructions, and direction to spot generation employees Perform, plan, guide, and schedule all preventative maintenance services and repairs on 6-kW to 2000-kW generators involving installation, removal, and operation of generators, building checklists and service cards and monitoring application of correct services based on equipment usage intervals and configurationsCoordinate all power outages and disruptions with client and customers, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations, and adjust maintenance schedules as required in alignment with OEM standards to meet customer requirementsTroubleshoot and rebuild engines, alternate current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessoriesResponsible for maintaining all type of power generation equipment, including but not limited to FG Wilson, Caterpillar, Marapco, Cummins, Mitsubishi, SDMO, Olympian, Kohler, Perkins, MEPs, and other military design generatorsServe as the subject matter expert for all generator maintenance-related activities, providing guidance, training, and oversight to complex maintenance activitiesResponsible for the proper allocation of spot generation units at sites across theater to ensure that available standby equipment is properly allocated at staging locations relevant to their anticipated usageEnsure that all required logistical needs, to include parts and tooling, are requisitioned for required services and maintenance, reducing equipment downtimeEnsure that spare generators are properly maintained and able to be deployed for utilization to meet mission demands as requiredCoordinate and recommend generators for replacement based off of economic factors and age of equipment, prioritizing customer demands and fiscal responsibilityIdentify spot generation units for placement at new installations, ensuring equipment is appropriately sized, configured, and installed to meet potential customer demands at the assigned locationMonitor the accountability of all property and movement-related records, ensuring accurate capture of equipment status and that all documentation is updated in client system of record as requiredResearch, identify, and catalog required maintenance parts, recommending stock categories and warehouse allocations based on potential equipment utilization rates and locationsCompile and compute all readings to generate required power distribution metrics as required by contractual deliverablesMonitor all equipment downtime and power outages at all locations in country, ensuring that power restoration efforts meet contractual directives.  When maintenance efforts are anticipated to exceed contractual limits, facilitate and coordinate the transportation, removal, and installation of generators across theater as required to expeditiously restore power.

WHO YOU ARE:

Essential Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in the maintenance of civilian or military-style generators, with a minimum of 8 years’ experience leading a team of maintenance professionals in a similar work environmentHands on experience inspecting, testing, and repairing components of power generation and electrical systems to include generators, transfer switches, and fuel monitoring and delivery systemsEducation: A high school diploma or GED plus related technical training, such as formal completion of generator maintenance or electrical maintenance courses, is required.  Experience may be substituted, as required, on a year-for-year basis (one year experience for one year of education) if experience is relevant to generator maintenance.Valid drivers’ license from home of record.Must provide copies of training certificates Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards for electrical and mechanical trades, related safety practices, and skill required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of power generator systems and equipmentMust know Lockout/Tagout Procedures

Desirable qualifications:

10+ years’ experience managing spot generation servicesPrior experience on US-military bases preferred Certifications of training from Mitsubishi, FG Wilson, Cummins, or Caterpillar would be an advantage.Previous US Army 91D experience, or service-equivalent, would be an advantage.In-depth knowledge of diagnostic software FG WILSON, Electronic Service Tool, and Compass would be an advantage.Graduate of formal leadership training (civilian or military) preferredAbility to apply technology to streamline maintenance activities, predict failures, and mitigate power disruptionsMAXIMO experience or other digital CMMS software experience would be an advantage.Level of English required: Fluent 

Skills and Competencies:

Must possess current training and able to demonstrate general knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations, including compliance with OSHA requirements, personal protective equipment use, and lock out tag out procedures for electrical, mechanical and fluid systems and controls.Ability to read, comprehend/understand and apply information contained in manufacturer equipment manuals, facility document including drawings and specification, operation and maintenance manuals, standard operating and emergency response procedures, material safety data sheets, etc.Ability to interpret and apply required corrective action with data readings and results of equipment checks to identify equipment or process problems and take appropriate responses to correct or resolve problems.Specific understanding and knowledge of power generation equipment startup and shut down and basic equipment maintenance procedures as they relate to the power generation equipment and/or auxiliary operator. Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling and working outdoors. Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to produce employee evaluations and written reports for upper management and to brief upper management on project status.

Working Environment 

Duties will involve work primarily indoors, though any outdoor work will have a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months. Must be able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods. Scheduled work hours will be remote 40 hours with the ability to mobilize to Syria.  Work week could extend up to 72 hours per week as needed.
