Generator Mechanic Lead
Overview ***This position is physically located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP*** Under the supervision of the Generator Mechanic Supervisor, the Generator Mechanic Lead performs maintenance inspections, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair generator issues, and overhauls of generator sets, power units, power plants, load switchboards, load distribution terminal boards, decontamination equipment, steam cleaners, small engine driven equipment, and other Special Purpose Equipment. Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, established processes, and local SOPs. Maintain accurate records of work performed. Monitor and Inspect work of subordinate mechanics and creates schedules for shop employees. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Responsible for performing routine maintenance checks, Diagnose and troubleshoot generator issues, repairing malfunctions, and ensuring that the generators are running Performs maintenance inspections, services, repairs, and overhauls of generator sets, power units, power plants, load switchboards, load distribution terminal boards, decontamination equipment, steam cleaners, small engine driven equipment, and other Special Purpose Equipment. Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW Technical Manuals, Army Regulations, established processes, and local SOPs. Checks work of subordinate mechanics and creates schedules for shop employees. Monitor the performance of the generators and recommend improvements and upgrades. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must provide a copy of the diploma. Completion of a technical program in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a generator mechanic. Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations Strong electrical and mechanical skills with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Knowledge of safety standards and procedures Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Knowledge of generators, electrical systems, and diesel engines. Can be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues, as well as conduct regular maintenance. Supervisory Responsibilities: Four (4) years of supervisory/Lead experience. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures 35-45 degrees Celsius. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, rain) Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
