Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Genetic Counselor to join our team of 20+ genetic counselors in the Department of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Current trainees and genetic counselors at all skill levels are encouraged to apply, career ladder in place with various salary levels based on experience. Genetic counselors at Cleveland Clinic have the ability to work autonomously with the support of a large experienced team. Individuals are able to develop expertise in specific clinical areas as well as pursue other interests, such as research, education, or community outreach.


A caregiver in this position works a hybrid schedule from 8:00am – 5:00pm.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide medical/clinical genetic services, information and counseling to individuals and families with a medical history of a known or suspected inherited condition.  

Perform genetic testing in accordance with the American Board of Genetic Counselors’ Scope of Practice guidelines.  

Identify and coordinate appropriate genetic testing.  

Report results to patients and their referring provider.  

Complete Epic documentation and billing.  

Develop and manage an effective case management system.  

Participate in data collection, data entry, data curation, writing IRB protocol and informed consent, research, education, supervision, community outreach and professional development activities. 

Contribute to scientific manuscripts and abstracts, publications, case reports, review articles and commentaries in peer reviewed journals.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Master’s degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program.  

American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG)/American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) board certified or eligible.  

Ohio Medical Board licensed or eligible.  

Knowledge of genetics and genetic counseling.  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Interest and/or expertise in cardiovascular genetics.

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity sufficient to operate a personal computer in the course of work, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying of 5 to 15 pounds.
