Genomics Computational Systems Biologist

Chenega Professional & Technical Services, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Genomics Computational Systems Biologist. The Genomics Computational Systems Biologist shall provide laboratory and scientific support within the Center for Genome Sciences (CGS) to perform next generation sequencing computational and analytical tools, comprising the ability to construct high-throughput analysis pipelines for omics data, and to integrate with in-house databases. Strong background in Bioinformatics and adept in analyzing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data is desirable. Responsibilities Analyze large-scale and high-throughput genomics datasets generated from Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencers (e.g., whole genome sequencing and RNA-Seq). Assist in preparation of technical reports and manuscript for publication Present data at conference(s) as requested. Maintain laboratory records documenting sample processing, protocol design and usage, and data management. Oversee the technical work of supporting personnel assigned to the research programs to train and ensure SOPs, sample and analytical workflows are followed, tracked, and documented by supporting personnel. May require travel to to scientific meetings, or to provide training and support to external collaborators. May require variable work schedule to accomplish a time sensitive task. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Master’s degree in biomedical science, bioinformatics, math, computer science or a related. Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in bioinformatics field. Must be able to obtain a secret clearance. Have experience working with a Linux environment and a good knowledge of scripting language for handling large-scale data, and programming language for implementing computational models and algorithms. Must be able to build analytical workflows and tools for automated deployment of bioinformatics analytical pipeline for interpreting NGS data. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expertise in the areas of NGS data analysis. Knowledge and some proficiency with Python, Perl, Shell, R, MATLAB, and JAVA are preferable. Estimated Salary/Wage USD $85,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $95,000.00/Yr.
