Job Title: GeologistJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Geologist to join our team. The role involves performing fieldwork such as soil, soil gas, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling. You will be involved in drilling and contractor oversight, remediation treatment system operation and maintenance, soil boring logging, monitoring well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring. You will also prepare soil boring and well construction logs, evaluate chemical and hydrogeological data, and manage data analysis and database tasks using AutoCAD and GIS applications. Responsibilities + Conduct fieldwork including soil, soil gas, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling. + Oversee drilling and contractor activities. + Operate and maintain remediation treatment systems. + Log soil borings and install monitoring wells. + Perform aquifer testing and groundwater monitoring. + Prepare soil boring and well construction logs. + Evaluate chemical and hydrogeological data, including mapping and reporting. + Analyze data and manage databases, preparing tables, maps, and figures using AutoCAD and GIS applications. + Design and implement sampling plans, pilot test designs, and bench scale testing programs for contamination assessment. + Perform remediation system operation and maintenance services. + Conduct remedy evaluation, cost estimating, design, and implementation. + Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Transaction Screening Assessments. + Assist in the development of proposals and other business development activities. The role requires approximately 70% fieldwork, with project lengths and time in the field varying from 1-3 weeks. Most job sites are located in Illinois and Northwest Indiana, with occasional overnight travel (about 30% overnight travel). You will use your own vehicle with mileage reimbursement and per diem for overnight travel, and a company truck is provided for longer-term projects. The role offers opportunities for career growth into a Project Manager position, allowing you to take projects from start to finish.
