Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Geologist to join our team. In this role, you will collect field samples, including soil, water, and soil vapor samples using appropriate sampling techniques and equipment. You will conduct site visits and field investigations to assess potential environmental risks and impacts. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of environmental assessment reports through data analysis and interpretation. Your responsibilities will also include conducting Phase I Environmental Assessments, attending training sessions, and maintaining accurate records of field data and laboratory results.

ResponsibilitiesCollect soil, water, and soil vapor samples using appropriate techniques and equipment.Conduct site visits and field investigations to evaluate potential environmental risks and impacts.Assist in the preparation of environmental assessment reports, including data analysis and interpretation.Conduct Phase I Environmental Assessments by researching and reviewing relevant documents such as historical records, aerial photographs, and property deeds.Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of environmental assessment techniques and regulations.Maintain accurate and organized records of field data, laboratory results, and other relevant documentation.Essential SkillsBS in Geology or Environmental Science.1-2 years of field sampling experience, particularly with soil sampling.Exposure to Phase I or Phase II reporting.Active 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.Willingness to learn and be trained in environmental assessment techniques and procedures.Ability to travel to project sites as needed and to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in soil sampling, groundwater sampling, remediation, and environmental compliance.Experience in report writing, site assessment, and data analysis.Knowledge of environmental science and inspection.Work Environment

This position is part of our expanding due diligence team, reporting to the Director of Environmental Assessments. The team consists of three individuals and is part of the larger consulting team. The role requires extensive field visits, with a varying balance between field and office work. Initially, fieldwork will be local to IL, with potential for nationwide travel as you progress. You have the option to use a company vehicle for site visits or receive mileage reimbursement for using your own vehicle. When not in the field, you will work in the office completing reports. Training in Phase I and Phase II ESAs and various field samples will be provided. This position offers opportunities for career growth and advancement into project management.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
