Job SummaryBattelle’s Energy Division is currently seeking an experienced Geologist. This position is located in Columbus, OH or Houston, TX, but will consider other remote locations.
As a Geologist, the successful candidate will provide geological support for commercial Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. This position will work within a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with geoscience, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering staff.
Detailed responsibilities for this position include:
Integration of regional and local-scale geological and geophysical data to support assessment of reservoirs targeted for carbon sequestration.Application of fundamental subsurface interpretation skills including well log evaluation, subsurface mapping, and core data analysis.Reservoir characterization for static and dynamic modeling projects, providing structure maps, fault interpretations, depositional environments, facies types, and petrophysical properties for model integration.Geologic modeling.Subsurface risk evaluation.Expertise in both siliciclastic and carbonate geologic systems.Communication of results and findings to Internal and external clients.Technical report and permit writing.Key Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Geosciences or closely related discipline with 2 years of Geological experience in O&G or CCUS or Master’s Degree in the Geosciences or closely related discipline.Hands-on experience with geologic analysis and integration software suites such as Petrel or Geographix.Ability to work independently to progress project work, as well as contribute technical feedback in a collaborative setting.Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums.The candidate may be required to travel. Travel is expected to be up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in the Geosciences or closely related discipline with 4 years of Geological experience in O&G or CCUS.
