ABOUT THE POSITION

Geomatics/Survey Project Manager | Hybrid

 

Are you an expert in Land Surveying looking to advance your career with a leading company? VHB’s expanding NY region is seeking a talented Geomatics/Survey Project Manager to join our Northeast Geomatics team, based in either New York City or Hauppauge (Long Island), NY. We are looking for a candidate with comprehensive knowledge in various Land Surveying applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys, and subdivisions. This role requires proficiency with the latest technologies and a proven track record in managing land surveying projects. Familiarity with colonial land surveying (as pertains to boundary determinations in local area) is essential. If you are ready to make an impact, we want you on our team!

 

Responsibilities

Project management, including management of budget, scope, and schedule for small, moderate, and large land survey projectsManagement of projects, support staff and clientsPerformance and/or oversight of surveying calculationsAnalysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the projectReviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD TechniciansPerform field checks, manage quality control of all productsCoordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environmentAbility to perform “field to finish” land surveying

Skills and Attributes

Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirementsProficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawingsKnowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirementsThorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3DAbility to direct and monitor construction layout servicesExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent teamwork and collaboration skillsMotivated to lead and mentor others 

Qualifications

5+ years of professional land surveying/geomatics experience, including managing land surveying projects required10+ years of professional land surveying/geomatics experience, including managing land surveying projects preferredHigh school diploma or GED requiredDegree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferredNY PLS license preferredFamiliarity with colonial land surveying (as pertains to boundary determinations in local area) requiredExperience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software requiredProficiency in all aspects of land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout is preferredExperience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, GPS, robotic instruments, remote sensing technologies such as UAV’s and terrestrial scanning, LiDAR processing software (Leica Cyclone and global mapper) is preferredExperience with ESRI software is preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $90,000-140,000. Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $85,000-135,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
