The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has an immediate opening for a Geoscience Trainee in the Geologic Mapping Division to assist Senior Geoscientists with a wide range of research, planning, and coordination in the areas of detailed geologic mapping and stratigraphic framework studies. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This geoscience trainee role will involve immersing oneself in the stratigraphic aspects of Pennsylvania's geology by supporting Senior Geoscientists in various research, planning, and coordination activities. The trainee will engage in detailed geological mapping and stratigraphic framework studies, undertaking a range of field mapping tasks that will ultimately lead to the preparation of geological maps and reports, as well as conducting geological research. Additionally, the position will require the trainee to acquire knowledge on addressing inquiries related to the PNDI/Geoheritage program, facilitating geoheritage meetings, and ensuring that all documents pertaining to geoheritage are kept up to date. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + Possession of an active Geologist-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists; or + A bachelor's degree in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or a closely related field including or supplemented by 30 college credits in geologic coursework; or + An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 30 college credits in geologic coursework. + Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
