DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker is currently looking to continue to grow and enhance our Geotechnical Department in Moon Township, PA and we are seeking a motivated and dynamic Geotechnical Engineer to be a part of our Team. The ideal candidate will work directly under the supervision of senior geotechnical engineer and focus on delivering projects for a wide variety of clients.

The duties of a Geotechnical Engineer will consist of the following:

Prepares geotechnical field exploration and laboratory testing programs; Monitor geotechnical drilling and perform site visits, report findings to more experienced Engineers and/or Project Managers; Perform analyses for design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilization systems; Prepares  geotechnical reports detailing subsurface investigations, foundation recommendations, construction monitoring and quality assurance/control phases of work and other field / laboratory studies; Evaluate geotechnical reports provided by our clients, determine engineering properties and provide foundation recommendations; Coordinates with technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion of field activities and accurate document or drawing preparation; Assists Project Managers and more experienced Engineers in ensuring that task and project schedules and budgets are met; Assists Project Managers and more experienced Engineers in communication with clients regarding to project tasks, holds and attends meetings; and Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

BS degree in Civil Engineering; MS degree in Civil Engineering with concentration in geotechnical engineering is desirable 0-4 years of experience in Geotechnical design and field work. EIT license is desirable, or ability to take the exam and pass within 1 year. Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise. Experience working independently and within project teams. Excellent technical writing and public/client presentation capabilities. Sound problem-solving and communication skills. Abilities to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts are essential. Experienced in geotechnical design software such as SLIDE, Slope/w, Seep/w, Sigma/w, LPILE, PLAXIS, FB-MultiPier and gINT. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Access) proficiency is required and experience with Primavera scheduling software is desired.

COMPENSATION 

The approximate compensation range for this position is $59,859 - $94,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
