We’re just built to be better. We are a great company. We are seeking a **Geotechnical Engineer 2** to join our San Diego, CA team! Come join us! **Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:** + Perform geotechnical design and analysis for shallow and deep foundations, providing earthworks recommendations, slope stability and seepage analyses, lateral earth pressure calculations, and other pertinent analyses in support of a wide range of projects in public and private sectors. + Perform geotechnical earthquake engineering analyses including ground motion hazard analysis, site-specific response, seismic deformation modeling, soil-structure-interaction analysis, liquefaction hazard assessment, and lateral spread analysis. + Perform installation, data collection, and interpretation of geotechnical instrumentation including inclinometers, shape accelerometer arrays, and pore pressure transducers. + Project, resource, and staff management for a wide range of projects in public and private sectors. + Work with senior team members to design geotechnical elements for buildings and infrastructure projects, including residential/commercial buildings, bridges, highways, railways, airports, pipelines, and levees/basins. + Prepare geotechnical reports and other submittals. + Assist other senior team members to prepare proposals for projects in a wide range of industry sectors. + Plan subsurface investigation, laboratory testing, and geotechnical instrumentation monitoring programs. + Perform construction observation of geotechnical elements, including shallow foundation subgrade preparation, drilled shaft, pile driving, and other earthworks. + Develop and maintain client relationships. + Participate in local professional communities. **Minimum requirements:** + Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. + Minimum 4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision. + The successful candidate should be a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California. + Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice preferred. **Technical requirements:** + Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working. + Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrogeology. + Experience with geotechnical software including slope stability packages (Slide, Slope/W), pile modeling tools (L-Pile, Shaft, All Pile), Finite Element Modeling (Plaxis, Midas GTS NX), site response software (Shake, DeepSoil) preferred. + Familiarity with Caltrans standards, guidelines, and deliverables is preferred. + Experience in construction oversight for foundation construction and earthwork observation. **Other miscellaneous qualities:** + Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. + Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on US Department of Defense military bases. **Compensation:** $90,000 - $130,000 annually The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law.
