A leading mining and infrastructure consumables manufacturer is seeking to fill a Geotechnical Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position will be focused on providing geotechnical engineering support to hard rock mining customers. The ideal candidate will be familiar with remediation of ground falls, testing and evaluation of rock bolts, selection of appropriate rock bolts for geologic conditions, evaluation of geology for structural stability, and effective communication of findings.
Job responsibilities:
Conduct on-site visits to customer locations
Provide technical support to customers as needed, troubleshoot issues, propose solutions, and provide clear documentation or recommendations for projects in varying stages of development
Collaborate to design, develop, and test new products or systems that enhance practices
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for product innovation
Work closely with and provide support to field and technical personnel as needed
Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work in an underground mining environment
Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Presentation Skills / client facing personality
Strong background in geology or geotechnical engineering
Self-motivational skills to perform duties without direct supervision with the ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
Flexible work schedule to meet customers’ requirements
Mechanical aptitude
Experience with CAD software (autoCAD, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor)
Experience with Microsoft Office
Extensive domestic travel required (3 days per week on average)
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Geotechnical, Geology, Mechanical, Civil, or other related engineering field required
Minimum Three (3) Years Hard Rock Mining Experience
Willing to travel domestically up to 3 days per week (on average)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00
