Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in geotechnical investigations and construction inspections, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality results. This role offers a balanced mix of fieldwork and office tasks, providing opportunities for professional growth within a supportive team environment.
ResponsibilitiesDesign earth structures, deep foundations, support of excavation, and underpinning systems.Assist project managers with fieldwork coordination and project management support.Scope and oversee geotechnical investigations and construction projects.Periodically perform inspections of geotechnical construction as needed.Coordinate investigations and assist in writing geotechnical reports.Prepare standard logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.Experience with investigation and fieldwork coordination.Field experience in earthwork, driven and drilled pile construction, footings subgrade and backfill inspection, and retaining wall design/construction.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Comfortable with fieldwork.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in geotechnical analysis.Proficiency in preparing geotechnical reports.Strong understanding of construction projects, concrete inspection, and design.Work Environment
This role requires 50-75 percent of the time to be spent in the field, often starting at 7am. Fieldwork may involve being outside in various weather conditions. When not in the field, work will be conducted in the office. We strive to balance field and office work to minimize burnout. The team consists of 17 members, with opportunities for upward growth due to the small team size. Our office in Philadelphia supports both geotechnical and environmental/civil projects. Employees can work from home two days a week. Benefits include 2 weeks of PTO (with comp time available), free lunch every Wednesday, free breakfast every Thursday, and a $500 home office stipend.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
