We are now seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Geotechnical Superintendent, this role will see you work as part of a capable and highly supportive team and is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a change and would like to broaden their geotechnical experience as well as make an impact in the gold industry. You will also get the chance to contribute to best practice pillar and open stope design methods whilst maximising ore recovery.
This role is offered on an 8/6 fly-in, fly-out roster with flights direct to site from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
Review and communicate work practices to reduce the risk of injury from geotechnical hazards and monitor that all work activities and plans comply with relevant regulations. Maintain and report on the site geotechnical monitoring systems and databases including seismic system and smart cables. Carry out stability analysis of excavations and analysis of designs through kinematics, empirical and numerical techniques. Conduct regular routine inspections of the Underground development and report all significant ground related incidents. Timely validation and interpretation of geological and geotechnical data, through ongoing field data collection and evaluation. Support completion of monthly and ad hoc reports on data gathering, evaluation, designs, monitoring and geotechnical performance. Conduct regular field inspections and ensure adherence to the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP). Complete stope note and Area note assessments using site specific stope span and pillar design criteria.

Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Engineering Geology A strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork Effective problem solving skills to address challenges relating to ground stability, ground support and excavation design Ability to use RocScience, Basrock, Leapfrog, MAP3D, Vulcan and Deswik will be highly regarded Experience with Smart cable and seismic system planning and installations Developed experience with both stope and area notes Previous experience in using Microsoft Office software Current manual ‘C’ class drivers license Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance Ongoing permanent work rights in Australia are mandatory
