Job Description

AECOM’s West Region is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to join the Orange, California Geo-Civil team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams, Levees, Pipelines, Bridges, Tunnels, Building Structures, and other Facilities, and collaborate with a wide range of different disciplines.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Southern CaliforniaReview and assign laboratory testing for geotechnical samplesOversee inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standardsPerform and oversee geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundationsPrepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendationsReview regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting workPrepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documentsAssemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, AutoCADApply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationCandidate must have a valid driver's licenseProfessional engineering license or ability to gain one within 6 months of hire 

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Civil EngineeringTen (10) years or more of experienceGeotechnical California GE registration is a plusWorking knowledge of relevant California seismic code provisionsStrong commitment to ensuring safe project executionLocal travel may be requiredExperience working with local permitting jurisdictionsOSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification
