Geotechnical Project Engineer
*Salary is open to negotiation*Job Responsibilities:Drives to project locations and meetingsPerforms a variety of geotechnical engineering activities in the field and in close proximity to heavy equipment to include: Geotechnical explorations, Boring layouts, Clearing utilities, Supervising drill rig operations, and Classifying soilsPerforms and supervises engineering work relating to the design, construction, and operation of municipal and commercial projectsAssists in determining the scope of the work and in planning the work of a project team; revises as necessary to meet changing needs and requirementsProvides engineering expertise to other individuals and work groups within the firm as requestedIdentifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilitiesCoordinates the work of engineers, technicians, and subconsultantsEstablishes and maintains communications and interaction with clients including scheduling, problem resolution, invoicing, etcPrepares reports and specifications, makes presentations as required, and obtains necessary client and agency approvalsResponsible in conjunction with Department Manager and other Project Managers for hiring and training of new and existing engineers, technicians, and staffProvides administrative and technical support to other departmentsParticipates in identifying potential markets in which the firm could capitalizePerforms other related duties as requiredRequired Qualifications: in Civil or Geotechnical EngineeringRegistered as Professional Engineer in State of Arizona or able to achieve registration within 6 monthsAt least three years project-related experience in soil mechanics, foundation design, pavement design, and slope stabilityKnowledge of ASTM test methodsMust possess strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skillsMust possess the ability to apply mathematical and theoretical concepts to practical situationsMust possess a working knowledge of basic computer programs used in engineering designMust be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusionsMust be able to discern from project specifications the tests required and the procedures to be followedMust be able to interpret technical procedures and governmental regulationsCommunication Skills:Must be fluent in EnglishMust be able to interpret technical procedures and governmental regulationsWritten – Handwriting must be legible; must be able to compose correspondence and prepare detailed reports of work activities completely and accuratelyMust be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers and clientsPersonal Characteristics:Attitude – Presents a professional demeanor to supervisors, co-workers, and clients; demonstrates a predisposition for working as a part of a team; demonstrates an interest in the work, works well with othersWillingness – Receives and follows through with instructions; completes assigned tasks with diligence and without complaintEfficiency – Work is typically done correctly the first time, speed should be improvingInitiative – Once assigned tasks have been completed has found other tasks that need to be accomplished or has requested instructions from supervisors.About UES
