Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a GI Technician-Endoscopy- Part Time, Day.


In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for preparing the procedure room. Facilitates the availability of all equipment for both advanced and routine endoscopic procedures. Provides safe, therapeutic, age-specific care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Adheres to strict scope/equipment reprocessing guidelines. Assists with patient transport and cleaning duties necessary for the orderly functioning of the procedure rooms and unit. Assists with ensuring proper par levels of advanced and standard endoscopic supplies are maintained within budget.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assignedSets-up procedure rooms in an organized and timely manner ensuring supplies and equipment needed. Performs a variety of cleaning duties necessary to the orderly functioning of the procedure rooms and unit. Maintains a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment including security of belongings. Complies with regulatory and quality policies governing safety standards and infection control. Monitors product supply usagewaste reduction.Adheres to strict scope reprocessing standards based on model of endoscope, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory safety standards. Initiates corrective action if breaks in protocol occur. Properly documents reprocessing protocol.Accurately and promptly reports all changes in patient condition and pertinent patient information to the registered nurse. Assists patient, family, visitors, and health care team members by answering questions, delivering messages, and giving information within the scope of practice. Ensures appropriate emergency equipment is present and operational, and responds to emergency situations as appropriate.Provides direct patient care utilizing policies and procedures, patient care guidelines, physician's orders, and endoscopy skill set. Assists and supports team members accordingly.Participates in orientation of new employees, unit based quality improvement measures and keeps current in Endoscopic and other related areas.Transports patients in a safe and efficient manner throughout the facility. Sanitizes transport equipment according to infection control policy.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) (As of 7/15/17). Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. SGNA) Associates Program (NewlyHired/transferred employees within first year of employment). SGNA Advanced Associates Program(NewlyHired/transferred employees within first year of employment). 1 - 2 years Nursing Assistant or equivalent. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), interpersonal, problem solving, critical thinking skills. Basic computer skills. Must have one of the following within 6 months of employment: (1) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), (2) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or (3) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)


Required Licenses: SGNA Advanced Assoc, SGNA Associates

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $28.37 - $30.21 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
