Under the supervision and guidance of the Manager, Gift Shop, this position is responsible for processing all cash/credit sales transactions in a hospital gift shop environment. Interacts daily with all levels of internal and external customers. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.
Essential FunctionsWelcomes and greets customers entering gift shop. Responds factually to customer questions, provides information on merchandise and gift shop policies/procedures. Refers as appropriate.
Processes sales returns and merchandise exchange of gift shop items.
Processes sales for customers on CounterPoint register.
Accepts, receives and processes payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, employee and other debit programs. Ensures all prices and quantities are accurate and issues receipts, refunds, credit and/or change due.
Bags, boxes or wraps purchased merchandise.
Monitors gift shop environment to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive checkout and sales area, restock merchandise as needed.
Balances and closes cash register transactions at end of shift, secures valuables for safekeeping, ensures shop entrance is closed and securely locked.
Participates in annual inventory of all stock.
Assists with pricing merchandise.
QualificationsRequired
High School Diploma or equivalent
6 months of relevant experience customer service environment
Preferred
Experience in direct sales or merchandising environment with related cashiering functions is highly desired.
