Gifted and Talented Coordinator - Colorado Connections Academy

School Summary:

Colorado Connections Academy (ColoCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public school serving students in grades K-12 statewide. ColoCA has two schools under its umbrella of shared-services model.  It operates in partnerships with the 27J and Education reEnvisioned under contract with Connections Academy to provide its educational program and other services.

Position Summary

This position is working with Colorado Connections Academy. Working from your home office; the highly certified teachers will “virtually” manage ALPs and instructional programs. Through use of the telephone, internet and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

The Gifted and Talented Coordinator will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

Coordinating and proctoring the CogAT; Pull data to determine students’ eligibility using CogAT, MAP, DIBELS, ACCESS, and classroom assessments; Compliant with state and district timelines; Participate in the organization and administration of in person state testing (SAT/PSAT/CMAS); Attend professional development trainings related to compliance and instruction (at least one a month); Create Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), progress monitor, and monitor GT goals; Create, send out, and screen talent pool submissions for the 13 gifted and talented indicators per CDE; Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update ALPs. Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers; Develop a general knowledge of the entire program’s K-12; Communicates regularly with parents, students, and certified content area teachers through use of Google Chat, internal email, computer and telephone; Keep student records and data up to date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts; Schedule and attend field trips (one each semester); Work with Advisory Teachers and school counselors to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress and established goals are being met; and Other duties as assigned.

Mandatory travel on occasion for back to school, WIDA screen, ACCESS, and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
