The GIS Engineer (Field Operations Optimization) plays a crucial role in driving efficiency and maximizing resource utilization for our field operations teams. You'll leverage your GIS expertise and analytical skills to design and implement geospatial solutions that optimize routes, schedules, and service area coverage.

Job Description:

Coverage Mapping:

Develop comprehensive service area maps using GIS software, incorporating factors such as geographic boundaries, customer locations, asset distribution, and field team capacity.

Analyze coverage gaps, identify areas for expansion, and create data-driven recommendations to improve service delivery.

Design and maintain geospatial dashboards that provide real-time insights into field team coverage and performance metrics.

Route Optimization:

Design optimized routes for field teams, factoring in travel time, traffic patterns, service priorities, and vehicle capacity.

Utilize routing algorithms and GIS tools to improve efficiency, reduce mileage, and minimize fuel costs.

Conduct simulations and scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of routing changes on overall field operations performance.

Scheduling Integration:

Integrate GIS data with scheduling platforms to assign tasks, dispatch field teams effectively, and optimize time utilization.

Develop dynamic scheduling models that adapt to real-time changes, unforeseen events, and customer requests.

Work closely with field operations managers to understand scheduling constraints and optimize resource allocation.

Data Analysis and Visualization:

Analyze geospatial data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement in field operations.

Create compelling maps, visualizations, and reports that effectively communicate insights to stakeholders.

Monitor performance metrics related to routing, scheduling, and coverage, and recommend actionable strategies for continuous improvement.

Solutions Development:

Collaborate with IT teams to develop custom GIS applications and tools that support field operations optimization.

Stay informed about emerging GIS technologies, routing software, and field service management platforms.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in GIS analysis, with a strong focus on routing, network analysis, and spatial optimization.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and mastery of spatial analysis tools.

Experience with routing software (e.g., ArcGIS Network Analyst, Route4Me, OptimoRoute) and scheduling platforms.

Working knowledge of database systems, SQL, and Python scripting is a major advantage.

Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze complex geospatial datasets, identify patterns, and develop data-driven solutions.

Problem Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop innovative ways to optimize field operations.

Communication and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with field operations teams and present geospatial insights to non-technical stakeholders.
