New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a GIS Field Specialist I to maintain and update an accurate GIS mapping of the company's physical distribution and transmission assets in the field. Support the Engineering staff and other business units through the creation of high-quality construction drawings, digital as-builting and collection of high-accuracy GPS data. Major Responsibilities: + Update and maintain the company’s natural gas facilities maps and details records in GIS. + Assist with as-built data validation when conflicts arise between existing GIS and field data (GPS/Survey). + Perform field locates of existing facilities as needed to support plan development, field investigations and as-built validation. + Support construction-based digital as-builting activities with barcoding for Tracking and Traceability combined with high accuracy GPS data collection. Maintain these initiatives with software such as Locus View. + Produce high quality construction and technical drawings, using AutoCAD, from field conditions, design sketches, and construction plans, according to departmental drafting standards. + Perform field work to support company easement, Right-of-Way drawings and permit applications. + Integrate data from a variety of sources including AutoCAD files, MicroStation files, surveys, geo-referencing scanned maps, and publicly available information from Government agencies. + Produce high quality map products for company use in presentations, meetings and public use, and for other departments. + Update and maintain the company’s critical valve and regulator station drawings. + Any other duties and responsibilities determined appropriate by departmental management. Position Specifications: + Associates degree in geography, surveying, engineering or related field from an accredited college is preferred. + One year of experience collecting high accuracy, RTK Network, GPS data is preferred. + Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software, especially the ability to perform detailed digitizing and vector data. + Fundamental knowledge, skill and experience in the operation of GPS equipment, peripherals and surveying techniques. + Proficiency in AutoCAD. + Ability to work well independently and establish effective working relationships with others. + Excellent organization and communication skills. + Must be able to do close up work, such as digitizing, and to perform physical GPS field work. * The above job description is reflective of the primary duties of this position and in no way limits the supervisor from assigning any other duties, responsibilities or initiatives as deemed necessary.
