Join us. **Job Description** **AECOM** is actively seeking a highly motivated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist for employment in the Arlington, VA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will use Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products on a wide variety of environmental and engineering projects. For the right candidate, this position could be remote. **The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:** + Independently execute and deliver GIS projects of varying scopes and complexity. + Create, organize, and concisely map GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes. + Review data for currency, accuracy, quality, and completeness. + Assist field teams with mapping preparation, field data collection/data extraction and other related activities. + Develop web and mobile GPS/GIS solutions and applications. + Create, edit, and maintain geospatial databases and metadata to support reports and other project deliverables. + Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation, including quality control documentation. + Work cooperatively with Project Managers, GIS Specialists, and other technical staff on simultaneous project assignments. + Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope. + Prepare technical work plans and reports. + Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance. + Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems. + Direct staff in the execution of tasks. + Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines. + Coordination with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. + Provide technical expertise support. + Support and serve as technical lead on large-scale enterprise GIS programs + Create, manage, validate and maintain various types of GIS data, databases and services + Develop, deploy and manage web-based geospatial content, applications and systems + Provide consultation for geospatial strategic planning and resolution of issues, technical assistance and training + Automation of Geoprocessing tools using Python and familiarity with Microsoft.NET. + Understand of the fundamentals of Web GIS, Server, ArcGIS client interoperations + Perform QA/QC review of GIS data and compile metadata **Qualifications** **_MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS_** + BA/BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education. + U.S. Citizenship required. + Valid US Driver’s License. **_PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS_** + Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification + Experience in ArcGIS-Esri suite of software including ArcGIS Server, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, with specific experience programming those products using the Python API for ArcGIS Or ArcPy. + Understanding of relational databases and Geodatabase technology. + Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal + Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Server architecture + Technical knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop products + Technical knowledge of geographic concepts, including coordinate systems/datums etc. + Knowledge of spatial data management, spatial analysis, and data visualization + Experience with developing conceptual site models + Proficiency in standard office suite software applications + Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees **Additional Information** Please note that this role can be based anywhere in the United States and compensation data will vary in each location, including higher or lower than the stated range. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
