Gis Specialist
Job Title: GIS SpecialistJob Description The successful candidate will work under the direction of the GIS Manager and project managers to provide GIS technical services for projects across several business units. The GIS team supports a broad range of engineering and planning projects throughout the country, offering opportunities to gain experience in various practice areas, including bridge inspection and environmental field data collection. Responsibilities + Work in-person with an option for a hybrid schedule at the discretion of team management. + Provide GIS technical services for projects across several business areas. + Create cartographic products for permits, reports, presentations, and proposals. + Search for, assess, process, and manage data to support GIS and Geospatial projects. + Perform and document spatial and quantitative analysis as required for project needs. + Conduct research, analysis, and drafting for GIS projects. + Assist with the design, development, and input quality control for databases tailored to client end use. + Aid in developing company GIS standards and provide technical input on all GIS-related issues. + Assist with maintenance and upkeep of installed GIS systems. + Stay informed of changing technology for both hardware and software aspects of the GIS field. + Provide training and work direction to GIS Intern and monitor output. + Promote the success of the team through individual initiative, cooperation to achieve common goals, and accommodation to change. + Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Proficiency in GIS, Geographic Information Systems, Data Management, and Data Analysis. + Project management, document control, scheduling meetings, project coordination, customer service, and administration. + Experience in drafting maps using AutoCAD or GIS-related software. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Basic data management for GIS data using a Windows operating system. + Demonstrated proficiency in procuring, assessing, and integrating geospatial data into mapping portfolios. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate's Degree in Geographic Information Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. + Experience in environmental field data collection. + Ability to interact with clients and travel occasionally. Work Environment The individual will work out of the downtown Raleigh, NC office. The position may be sedentary for prolonged periods, and occasional travel may be required.
