Gis Technician
Description Manage routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Create maps and other visual representations using GIS tools. Ensure timely updates to GIS databases. Collaborate with GIS Analysts on complex projects. Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies. Provide input on GIS tool enhancements. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in geography (GIS), engineering, computer science, or related field preferred GIS certificate and 2 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree in related discipline is acceptable Previous experience in the utility or pipeline space is a plus As-Built drawing experience is a plus (Revised sets of drawings that reflect all the changes made during the construction process and provide an exact rendering of the finished product. As-built drawing describe what was actually built versus the way it was originally designed) Linear referencing experience is a plus (Method of spatial referencing in which the locations of physical features along a linear element are described in terms of measurements from a fixed point, such as a milestone along a road) Ideal internship/professional experience would be from a municipal or utility. Doing GIS data editing, data analysis or modifying existing features. Experience manipulating data - updating/creating maps • Esri ArcGIS 10.2x – advanced proficiency • MS Office suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) – advanced proficiency • Esri ArcGIS Enterprise – intermediate proficiency • Geometric Network – intermediate proficiency • Model Builder – intermediate proficiency • Python – intermediate proficiency • SQL RDBMS – intermediate proficiency • AutoCAD/CADD – basic proficiency • Visual Basic/VBA – basic proficiency • SharePoint – basic proficiency • Excellent geoprocessing and spatial analysis skills • Strong requirements review, analytical, and problem solving skills • Application testing script development and performance of testing • Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
