Description:
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant will work alongside other key Accounting members to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, or other financial activities within an organization. The GL Accountant will also help maintain capital projects to ensure proper controls, and capitalization of large capital projects.
Responsibilities: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
• Reconcile and analyze the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts.
• Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting
and procedural standards.
• Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
• Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
• Prepare revenue and cost analysis, or other management reports.
• Prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
• Prepare schedules and documents for external audits
• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
• Work with project managers to ensure proper accounting, controls, and capitalization of CIP.
• Report any ideas for efficiency and continuous improvement to Supervisors.
• Support the VP of Finance and other financial professionals in their duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other relevant major preferred
• 1-5 years of relevant work experience, (General Ledger analysis, accrual, and inventory)
• Must come from manufacturing/distribution industry
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
• Good verbal and communication skills
• Attention to Detail
• Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple initiatives at once
• Professional and have a positive attitude
