Summary Statement
Join the Parks and Recreation department this holiday season at the downtown Glide on the Grove Holiday Rink as a rink attendant!
Assists with operations and customer service at Glide on the Grove Holiday Rink. Assists customers and staff as requested. Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for assisting the shift manager with the completion of the daily tasks designed to ensure and maintain a safe and welcoming environment at the Glide on the Grove Holiday rink. This position is open to all interested persons, 15 years of age or older.
This position works up to 19 hours per week between November and January.
This position is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Assists customers at the skate shop and on the rink. Determines the correct size of rentals and checks out customers. Monitors skaters on the rink, provides customer service, and performs related duties as assigned.
Participate in janitorial duties such as keeping all areas of the facility neat, clean, and safe at all times. These duties include sweeping and mopping the rink restrooms, removing trash, and cleaning the rink surface from debris and snow.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ Experience working with the general public
Working knowledge of:
+ customer service techniques.
Ability to:
+ interact with the general public;
+ provide a high level of customer service;
+ display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public, and other organizations;
+ communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance;
+ complete assignments in a timely fashion;
+ understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations;
+ maintain prompt and regular attendance; and
+ perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ 6 months working in a customer service role.

Applicants must be able to pass:
+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Working Environment
The work environment will include inside and outside conditions and extreme temperatures.
This position works: evenings and weekends as required between November and January.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
