The Rink Supervisor acts as a lead at the downtown Glide on the Grove Holiday Rink. Assists with a variety of duties as requested. This position is open to all interested persons 18 years of age and older. This position works up to 19 hours per week, evenings and weekends included, between November and January. This position is designated as At-Will. Essential Functions Acts as a lead to employees assigned to the skate shop. Provides a high level of customer service to customers. Performs opening, closing, securing rink area, and skate shop duties. Performs regular janitorial duities. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training + 1 year experience working with the general public in a customer service-type setting. Working knowledge of: + general customer service techniques; + basic hockey and figure skating equipment; + resolving incidents. Ability to: + interact with the general public and effectively handle complaints; + operate skate sharpening and repair equipment; + display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public, and other organizations; + communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; + complete assignments in a timely fashion; + understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations; + maintain prompt and regular attendance; and + perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training + 1 year experience working in a recreational facility providing supervision or direction to employees. Work includes the sensory ability to talk, hear, and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, reach, and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Working Environment The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases, or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards. Work includes protected exposure to chemicals. This position works: evenings and weekends as required. 19-Hour Temporary All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits. 4-Month Temporary All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment. 8-Month Seasonal In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage. 9-Month Temporary In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
