Job Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. Build and maintain fundamental supply and demand models for power markets using advanced data science techniques like curve fitting, clustering, and gradient boosting techniques. Analyze large datasets to identify market trends, correlations, and patterns that can be leveraged to optimize trading algorithms. Develop statistical models (including using coding in python or equivalent programming language), automate market analysis, and automate execution. Conduct rigorous back-testing and simulation analyses to assess the performance of trading strategies and ensure robustness under various market conditions. Develop marking, quoting, and risk reporting tools. Liaise with desk strategists, and engineering teams to implement processes to optimally leverage financial resources to achieve commercial priorities. Support senior traders with structuring, pricing, executing derivative transactions, and risk managing positions. Execute and book trades across commodity products, understand commodity market fundamentals and trends and communicate complex information succinctly to salespeople and clients.
Job Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Prior work experience must include three (3) years with a Master’s degree or five (5) years with a Bachelor’s degree in the following: programming in Python, C++ or equivalent language, including working with and implementing or contributing significantly to widely used, large-scale, multi-developer projects; applying mathematical techniques, including generalized linear regression, multivariate regression analysis, time series analysis, and optimization; creating, understanding, and explaining the output of complex models; and communicating results and stages of development of computational projects to senior stakeholders. Prior work experience must include one (1) year with; performing financial modeling using financial mathematical techniques, including working with financial markets and assets, and participating in peer reviews of code; and working independently as owner of individual computational projects or initiatives.
Salary Range: Annual base salary for this New York, New York -based position is $156,000 - $225,000.
