GLOBAL BANKING & MARKETS

We make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. Through our global sales force, we maintain relationships with our clients, receiving orders and distributing investment research, trading ideas, market information and analysis.

OPERATIONS 

Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow. 

YOUR IMPACT 

We promote continuous learning by way of cross training and business engagement across the ‘front to back’ stack of reconciliations functions in the Global Markets EQ and FI Asset classes. Your role will involve active engagement and partnership with the sales, trading, credit, legal and other operations teams which will be key to effectively manage the risk and business / client expectations for the trades we support. In addition to the responsibilities assigned to you, you will be expected to contribute ideas towards enhancement and streamlining the activities, leveraging Business Intelligence and data analytics capabilities. You will also manage the team and will be role model for the people you are managing hence leading by example will be crucial for success in the role. 

OUR IMPACT 

The Global Market Controls manages reconciliation for trading and client positions across EQ and FI business lines. The team is responsible for ensuring all exceptions are investigated and reported in a timely manner. Partnership with multiple groups is key to effective risk management – teams ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved by leveraging internal sales/trading, technology, legal, and Middle office teams. The individual is required to be dynamic and client service oriented with high focus on risk and control. From an early stage, we develop and expect our people to think creatively and ‘outside the box’, as well as improving the daily process and taking responsibility and ownership for this to happen. The role also requires the ability to seamlessly switch between multiple activities and significant interaction with stakeholders so communication will be a key asset. 

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSBILITIES 

Risk Management – Manage the risk of multiple functions that span the life cycle of a trade (i.e. real-time through post settlement date functions)Strategy – Providing thought leadership to execute on and grow the control and quality management strategy; this includes:Realignment to new Org Structure – Realign functions from other teams within and outside of the Business unit Establish New Controls – Partner with Technology to design, build and operate effective controls in a STP environmentRedefine Roles within Organization – Provide control design expertise; responsible for the implementation of the control framework as part of new business/activities and migration to strategic architectureCreate new Roles within Organization – Develop Business Intelligence capabilities that would identify risk derived from the correlation of quantitative and qualitative dataIndustry/Regulatory Change Management – Keep abreast of regulatory change and participate in industry forumsIndustrialization – Champion reengineering programs with the goal of increasing efficiencies globally Relationship Management – Foster relationships across multiple areas in the Firm including trading desks, operations, technology, legal and compliance departments and global groups

 QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s degree Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesSelf-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders Flexible and able to work well under pressureProactive, self-motivated individual with high levels of ownership, and driven to achieve Highly organized individual with attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills
