Role

Activism and Raid Defense have been cornerstones of Goldman Sachs’ leading M&A franchise for more than two decades. The Activism and Shareholder Advisory (“ASA”) team is responsible for helping clients stay ahead of and respond to challenges by shareholder activists and hostile raiders, and is a key subject matter expert on activism, shareholder engagement and corporate governance.  The ASA team is looking for a candidate to join the team in an Analyst capacity in New York.

In this role, the Analyst will play an important role, including developing client materials and presentations on shareholder activism; conducting primary research into activism campaigns, activist investors, shareholder dynamics and corporate governance, developing analytical exhibits to be used in client presentations, and working on project-specific analysis and live activism situations. The role involves working with bankers across various industry groups and geographies and provides the opportunity to develop expertise on the topic.

Responsibilities 

This individual will play an important role in working with the broader ASA team and senior bankers on activism related matters, including developing and expanding our subject matter knowledge related to activism, shareholders and corporate governance and working on live situations.  This individual will also help build out and maintain our thought leadership to ensure that our bankers and clients have the full benefit of our extensive understanding of these topics.  This individual will be responsible for:

Developing tailored analysis in support of individual teams;Working on live activism and raid defense situations as part of the broader GS Investment Banking teamConducting market research and surveillance on relevant activism, shareholder and governance trends;Writing thought leadership related to new events and market developments;Analyzing key trends in the market;Maintaining investor profiles and enhancing relevant insights regarding major activist funds;Creating quantitative and qualitative analysis regarding activism vulnerability; and Deploying product-specific data resources.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $110000-$125000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
