About the Role

We are seeking a Global Category Manager – Contract Mining to lead sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and procurement optimization for contract mining services. This role is critical in developing global commercial agreements, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective and high-performing contract mining operations. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to align contract strategies with business objectives while driving continuous improvement and supplier innovation.

Your Role Will Consist Of:

Here’s a snapshot of your day-to-day responsibilities:

Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for contract mining services, ensuring alignment with business goals.Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations, contract negotiations, and strategic partnerships.Act as a key liaison between operations, technical services, and procurement teams to optimize supplier selection and contract performance.Monitor market trends, risks, and advancements in contract mining, ensuring strategic sourcing decisions are data-driven.Ensure supplier compliance with safety, sustainability, and social performance objectives.Implement contract management frameworks, ensuring governance and alignment with corporate policies.Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, support Total Cost Ownership (TCO) strategies, and track realized savings.Lead continuous improvement efforts, refining procurement policies and enhancing contract management processes.Support strategic portfolio management and Integrated Business Planning, aligning with Newmont’s Global Category Management (GCM) framework. What We’re Looking For

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

Strong background in contract mining procurement, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing.

Experience in managing complex global contracts and optimizing supplier performance.

Proven ability to develop and execute category management and sourcing strategies.

Knowledge of contractor performance evaluation, compliance, and cost management.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba, and enterprise procurement software.

Strong analytical skills in financial assessment, cost modeling, and market analysis.

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools.

Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with C-Level executives and senior leadership.

Understanding of mining operations, contract structures, and contractor workforce management.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Problem-solving mindset with a strategic and analytical approach.

Ability to foster collaboration and build a high-performance culture within procurement teams.

Working Conditions and Location

This position is based at the Denver Corporate Office or one of the Regional Hubs.

Travel may be required to supplier sites, regional offices, and mining operations to facilitate global category management and supplier negotiations.

The role requires collaborating across different time zones, engaging with global teams and stakeholders.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 - 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
