Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Communications Executive to join our R&D and Marketing Communications team. This junior role is ideal for someone with a passion for internal and external communications, project management, and social media. The successful candidate will work to deliver ‘agency style’ support across R&D and Marketing, on a project basis to deliver the execution of communication strategies, manage various communication platforms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance our digital presence and engagement. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior team members and drive visibility and engagement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Communications:Lead and manage internal communication initiatives, including CGMO and R&D LIVE events, newsletters, and Viva Engage content.Coordinate and streamline communication processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maintaining up-to-date distribution lists and internal calendars.Support senior leaders by driving visibility and engagement through various internal channels and townhalls.External Communications:Manage and update external communication platforms, including the innovation pages on the website and CGMO and CRDO LinkedIn channels, working with internal teams and agency support.Create and curate content for social media series and support high-profile external engagements, including briefing documents and presentations.Oversee the execution of filming requests and manage social media agency support as required for external influence.


General Responsibilities

Execution against the strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams.Assist in the creation and distribution of communication materials, such as newsletters, presentations, and reports.Coordinate logistics for events and meetings, including scheduling, invitations, and follow-up communications.Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts and manage the budget.Provide administrative support to the Director of Communications and the R&D and Marketing Communications team.

Skills Required

Highly organised and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.Creative thinking to generate innovative ideas and solutions.Experience running a social channel and managing social media content preferred.Ability to brief and manage agencies, as well as manage a budget.Comfort in dealing with senior stakeholders and building relationships quickly.Ability to influence at different levels of the organisation.Self-starter who can work independently without day-to-day direction.

Location  

In 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars ("100VE"), Lever House in Kingston and Graze in Richmond, the build is due to be complete in early 2025. Most recently, in August 2024, we announced our intention to retain our premises in 100VE until our lease expires in 2027.

We are due to consult with our existing workforce on the new proposal to retain 100VE for the duration of our lease. Therefore, until such a time consultation has concluded as to the retention of our 100VE office, this role will be based in 100 Victoria Embankment until early 2025 and then will move to the Kingston Campus.

Recruitment Fraud 

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate. 

 

How is Unilever tackling this? 

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down. 

 

What can I do?
