As a highly experienced and results-driven Global Privacy Principal you will be responsible for leading the Information Technology Group (ITG) Privacy Program by working directly with the Global Privacy Office (GPO) and ITG Subject Matter Experts to comply with global privacy regulations. You will leverage your strong expertise in privacy management, technology, and financial services, with a deep understanding of privacy laws and regulations to drive privacy transformation within Capital Group’s dynamic, global environment.
Your responsibilities include:
ITG Privacy Strategy & Leadership:
You will be the point person for ITG responsible for executing the Global Privacy Office’s (GPO) strategy and will participate in all GPO related forums and steering committees.
You will maintain the inventory of Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) & third-party processors list and partner with GPO to assess changes to the collection, use, and sharing of processing of personal information.
You will provide feedback on data privacy practices and tools.
You will escalate data privacy issues to the Privacy Owner and GPO.
You will respond to consumer requests.
You will lead the risk assessment process for global ITG privacy-related initiatives and recommend mitigations to align with regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders including the GPO, legal and compliance, technology, operations, and business units to embed privacy considerations into all aspects of ITG’s operations.
You will advise executive ITG leadership on privacy risks and mitigation strategies, with a focus on business growth, technology development, and compliance.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure privacy is incorporated into new technology initiatives and projects. understanding and partnering with ITG explaining and addressing privacy risks in cloud computing.
Privacy Training & Awareness:
In partnership with CGs Global Privacy Office, you will develop and deliver privacy training programs to ITG employees at all levels, fostering a privacy-aware culture within the department.
You will stay current with the latest privacy trends, regulations, and best practices, ensuring the ongoing compliance and effective risk management together with the GPO.

Education & Experience:
You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, business, technology, or a related field. Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or other privacy-related certifications are a plus.
You have 10+ years of experience in global privacy management, with a focus on data privacy compliance, risk management, and privacy strategies.
You have experience in the financial industry or technology sectors, with knowledge of privacy considerations specific to these industries.
You have in-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including principals of data protection, legal requirements for data processing, and measures to protect personal and sensitive data including, GDPR, CCPA, DORA, and similar frameworks.
Technical Expertise:
You have a strong understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies and tools, including data protection strategies, encryption, and privacy engineering.
You have experience in working with cross-functional technology teams to implement privacy controls in complex environments.
Skills & Competencies:
You have excellent project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives across multiple stakeholders and departments.
You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate privacy risks and propose actionable solutions.
You have exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex privacy issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You have a proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
You have demonstrated expertise in privacy risk assessments, incident management, and compliance monitoring.
You understand the Privacy space (laws, company requirements) within highly regulated environments in a global context. Familiarity with DORA’s broader operational resilience requirements and implications for privacy management.
You have an understanding technology's role in privacy such as system access, data access, controls and monitoring.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $201,203-$342,045
San Antonio Base Salary Range: $181,198-$308,037
New York Base Salary Range: $213,303-$362,615
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
