What You'll Do

As part of the Data team within HR, the BCG Global Data Stewards are responsible, within their corresponding data domain, for the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide Data Governance strategy that supports the efficient usage of data across the firm by ensuring key sets of fully governed, curated, and globally integrated data products & assets.

 

Under the guidance of their Global Data Owner, each Global Data Steward will support the key data initiatives (both functional and technical) in the domain, including the definition and execution of principles, harmonised definitions, quality assessments, governance processes to ensure safe usage and evolve this new set of enterprise-wide products and assets.

 

Specifically, the Consulting Team Talent Data Steward will deliver a strategy for Career Development, Staffing and Mobility within BCG. You will partner with HR, Data, and other Enterprise Services leaders, as well as their corresponding Business Intelligence, Operations and Tech teams to realise the most relevant opportunities to accomplish our ambitious goals for the Consulting Team Talent data domain.

 

Consulting Team Talent domain spans over the CD, Staffing and Mobility teams. The CD function is responsible for the core performance management processes for our Consulting Team, including project-based downward feedback; upward feedback for team managers; twice-yearly holistic assessment by the Consulting Team Talent Committee (CDC); and enablement of CD Advisors and team leaders to deliver rich ongoing developmental conversations and experiences. BCG’s Staffing function is business-critical, managing the overall people deployment strategy and capacity management for the firm. It is also at the heart of many BCG transformations, enabling the firm to deliver on its People agenda, improve Staffing outcomes, put the best teams forward for our clients, and deliver other strategic initiatives. The Global Mobility Team is BCG’s Center of Excellence for geographic moves as well as global internal and external secondments. Global Mobility maintains mobility policies and coordinates; advises systems and programs on new mobility needs; problem solves for cross border challenges, whether related to formal mobility or other scenarios. The team also supports individual transferees, sets the terms for their move and organizes vendor support.

 

The ideal candidates will have a goal-oriented mindset and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver Data Governance capabilities and support exceptional Data Products. They will have 5+ years of experience in driving an increase in Data Governance maturity in large, highly complex companies. The candidate will have a good understanding of Consulting Team Talent Data Products and Services and be well versed in common data opportunities in these areas. Finally, they should have strong communication skills with proven experience in stakeholder engagement (including senior business and technical teams) with the ability to showcase the business benefits of Data Governance.

 

Among your responsibilities, you will:

Define an overall vision, roadmap, and priorities for our Consulting Team Talent Data Governance StrategyWorking with the Global HR Data Governance Director, the HR Data Owner, other HR Global Data Stewards (Worker and Candidate data), the Data Governance CoE, and leaders in the HR space, to understand the end-to-end data lifecycle for our Career Development, Staffing, and Mobility Data assets to inform our data strategyUnderstand any data opportunities from our customers, users, and business leads on Consulting Team Talent data, especially our HR functional stakeholders. Work to define an overall strategy and roadmap for the domain, constituted by a set of initiatives with clear accountabilities, goals and objectives ensuring efficient Data Governance capability implementation.Align the Consulting Team Talent Data Governance strategy and roadmap with our broader BCG HR and Data leadershipCreating and enforcing data quality policies and standards to maintain compliance and support decision-making processes.Ensure sustainable delivery of customer value on the agreed Data Governance roadmapBreak down the roadmap initiatives into actionable deliverables, engaging cross- Product Portfolio teams as neededEnsure that areas of priority are identified (e.g. Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality) and a cohesive action plan is developed to ensure impactful value-add to end customersClear narrative and articulation of Data Governance principles linked to business value-add, communicating these regularly to senior stakeholders across Data and HR.Track and report on specific and measurable aligned KPIs and key results, developing metrics to measure maturing with Consulting Team Talent dataPrioritise identified data opportunities clearly communicating with required stakeholders to ensure efficient deliveryProactively identify and escalate risks and mitigation plans, along with key decisions, to relevant stakeholdersSupport and align with the Data Governance stakeholders community (Data Governance Director, and Data Stewards) to ensure alignment and best practice sharingEngage with the other Data Stewards (particularly collaborating with HR and Data, and IT) to ensure alignment and ensure the consistency of the broader Data Governance strategy and business objectivesFoster connectedness with key squads to ensure data opportunities and priorities are understood (i.e., HR, Data squads)Training and Support: Providing guidance and training to HR personnel on best practices for data management and quality assurance.

Harmonising definitions and data flows across all functions and geographies and identifying global issues with critical data attributes/elements.Defining and implementing global Data Governance requirements and frameworks, ensuring key capabilities and controls are implemented to enable efficient data accuracy, accessibility and consistency of use globally.Leading activities related to the Consulting Team Talent’s Data Governance strategy, including: Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Master Data mgmt., Data Quality, Data Architecture, and informing Data Product development prioritiesSharing and adopting best practices, external and internal (across BCG Data Stewardship team) in Data Governance, Data Management, Stakeholder Management, Project Management and Change ManagementCollaborating with functional and technical team members (e.g. SMEs in HR, Finance, Enterprise Services and IT) to prioritise and pursue the business and technical initiatives in the roadmap to achieve a global data strategyEnabling BCG leaders to make relevant decisions (e.g. trade-offs and prioritization) to implement the global strategy defined for Consulting Team Talent dataDeveloping analytics, frameworks and KPIs to drive a step-change in Data Quality Issue management, Data Security, Data Profiling and Data Governance maturityEnsuring adherence to relevant data policies, standards, and guidelines, and maintaining relevant Data Governance artefacts across the data domain (for example, the Data Catalog, classification, and data quality standards of data elements)Communicating with senior executive teams the importance of the data strategy for the success of BCG

What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s or higher degree, preferably in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields5+ years of experience working in data-related or project roles (e.g. Data Management, Data Governance, CDO Office or BI & Analytics team). Prior experience working with Consulting Team Talent data and at a global level is preferred but not mandatory.Passion and interest in solving business-oriented data challenges end-to-end, with demonstrated precision and attention-to-detailAn understanding of Data Governance industry best practice is useful (such as DAMA’s DMBoK & CDMP, EDM Council’s DCAM)Understanding of data strategy and management concepts and associated business processes and tools, including Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, and Data QualityStrong customer and business focus with demonstrated ability to form effective working relationships and resolve conflictsHands-on experience using Data Governance tools such as Data Catalogs (e.g. Talend Data Catalog) and Data Quality ToolsSolid understanding of Consulting Team Talent Data constructs and domains, data technologies (e.g., Snowflake) and core transactional systems (e.g., Workday) will be beneficialExperience working with diverse and geographically dispersed stakeholdersPreference is to hold Snowflake certifications, CPMD
