Overview Gallagher currently is approaching 70,000 employees in 57 countries around the globe. Our current travel program focuses on countries with the highest concentration of travelers encompassing travelers from 18 countries: the scope of the travel program is expanding rapidly fueled by Gallagher’s rapid expansion through acquisition. The primary corporate card program is the American Express corporate card with cardholders across 18 countries. In addition to the American Express card program, the travel team also helps to administer services for smaller pockets of travelers holding alternative corporate cards in India, Australia, Malaysia, and selected countries across Latin America. During the past 8 years, Gallagher’s air spend has grown from approximately $15M to $40M in 2024: global corporate card spend exceeds $100M annually. Gallagher operates two private jet aircraft for the exclusive use of selected leadership team members. The corporation anticipates accelerating the pace of global expansion, with a corresponding growth in our employee base and the need to execute the key components of our global travel program strategy to additional geographies around the world. The Global Director of Travel drives the global travel program strategies and policies to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies while aligning with business priorities, and assuring and travelers’ safety and satisfaction. The position currently has two reports in the US, a dotted line report in the UK and a dedicated support team in our Center of Excellence in India. The Global Director is accountable to enable and guide these individuals to handle increasingly complex projects including the assimilation of newly acquired companies into the travel program. Collectively the director and his/her team will be managing a global portfolio of rapidly growing spend. It is essential that the successful candidate exhibits a strong sense of urgency and agility, with the capability to succinctly articulate issues and alternatives that propel timely decision-making processes. How you'll make an impact Travel program management and reporting: Lead and oversee all aspects of Gallagher’s global business travel and corporate card programs, including strategy development, periodic program effectiveness assessments and policy creation/enhancement Develop actionable reporting and analyze travel and spend data to track key performance indicators, to identify trends, and to enable strategic decision-making. Create reports/presentations for senior management with program highlights/performance, cost savings, and trends. Proactively monitor travel compliance and inform leaders of opportunities and challenges. Vendor management: Lead multiple global complex sourcing strategies for various subcategories including corporate travel agencies, corporate cards, hotels, airlines, and travel technology services providers. Negotiate all terms with clear scope of services, favorable SLAs, optimal rates, escalation provisions, etc. Manage and maintain the contract lifecycle for existing and new providers. Foster and maintain close relationships with key contacts and account teams at all travel service providers (e.g., travel management company, corporate card providers, airlines, hotels, car rental companies, etc.) Continuously evaluate vendor performance and offerings, including new technologies, to optimize cost savings and ensure quality/service level agreements are met. Drive supplier accountabilities through SLAs and KPIs and encourage supplier driven innovation. Identify and evaluate new travel service providers/services and technologies that may improve/enhance Gallagher’s current program and as applicable: manage associated integration and implementation activities. Serve as primary point of contact for vendor escalations (e.g., service issues, etc.). Stakeholder communication and engagement: Develop relationships with business leadership, managers, employees, and functions to ensure the travel program meets the business needs of the organization. Support broader business leadership teams on goal setting and annual planning by developing a trusted advisor relationship with key stakeholders. Serve as an escalation point for C suite leadership with complex travel issues. Ensure issues are resolved quickly, effectively, and to the employee’s satisfaction Partner with key internal stakeholders to communicate critical messages/updates and drive adoption of new travel program offerings, technologies, and new travel policy guidelines. Staff/team management: Continue to design, develop, maintain and lead a global team of key liaisons in every country to support the company’s travel program, to ensure consistent policy application and to ensure country processes meet travelers’ needs. Effectively lead, manage, coach, and develop direct reports into a high-performing cohesive aligned group to support the travel and card programs’ goals/objectives and users. About You Required: Bachelor's degree; 7 years minimum related experience. Excellent overall business acumen and understanding of risk mitigation approaches and contract language usage. Demonstrated project management skills with ability to lead multiple highly visible global programs. Experience in working and presenting financial information to develop consensus and buy-in for data-based decisions. Highly Preferred: Bachelors or Masters Degree required in related field. 10+ years of travel management experience required. Comprehensive understanding of the travel industry. High proficiency in travel booking systems, expense management software, and data analysis tools. Strong Microsoft Suite proficiency. Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and resolve issues. Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Effective leadership and team building skills, coupled with strong ability to hire, guide, and mentor team members. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
