Focus: The Global EH&S Director is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program and for driving a high-performance safety and compliance culture across the company. This highly visible and strategic role leads the development of a comprehensive operational multi-year EHS strategy, including personal and process safety and security, aligning with the corporate vision and strategic goals of zero unplanned EH&S events.

The Director will challenge and lead the organization to achieve top-level performance through leveraging data, innovative ideas, and best practices. We are looking for an individual passionate about EHS and operational excellence with proven ability to work within a global manufacturing and supply chain organization.


Global EH&S Director Essential Job Functions:

Work closely with the VP of Manufacturing and Engineering, EHS Staff, and Operations Leadership to develop and implement a global, data-driven EHS strategy leveraging industry best practices. Based on strategy and site-specific risk assessments, develop and implement a multi-year plan to improve EH&S engagement across all levels, building a high-performance high-trust safety culture. Monitor plan implementation and KPIs for leading and lagging indicators, identify risks and non-compliant areas, refining plan as needed to improve compliance, culture, and performance. Develop effective strategies around new regulations and EH&S standards, adapt global company standards in cross-functional international teams ensuring successful implementation, and integration of compliance and improvement initiatives. Lead and supervise a staff of EH&S managers. Ensure staff development, training, retention, succession planning, performance management, and recruitment of quality talent. Collaborate with Manufacturing & Engineering and Integrated Supply Chain to drive systematic and practical engagement of contractors and contractor management, ensuring high EH&S standards from commencement of work to project/maintenance completion.  Ensure the company has a data management and reporting system that effectively captures and facilitates required reporting, execution, and analysis for EHS-related data. Global EH&S Director Requirements: Bachelor's Degree* in Industrial Safety, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline. Master's Degree* in aforementioned disciplines preferred. Minimum of 10 years' leadership experience in EH&S and process safety management roles. Chemicals industry experience required.  Experience in development and effective implementation of Personal Safety Systems, Process Safety Systems (HAZOP, LOPA, RC/PHA), Occupational Health Systems, and Environmental Safety Systems. In-depth knowledge of relevant US regulations required; experience with EU legislation/regulation preferred. Experience in leading a larger department required; international team supervision experience preferred. Fluency in business and technical English. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels in a matrixed global organization. Able and willing to travel, domestically and internationally up to 50%. Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and lead cross-functional initiatives with an emphasis on teamwork and individual accountability. Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
