**Internal Title: Global H&S Specialist - Americas**
This position will report into our centralized Global Health & Safety organization Internally
**Purpose of the Role:**
This role will be responsible for implementing the Diageo Global Health and Safety Strategy across North America, Canada and LAC supply locations i.e. manufacturing locations, warehouses, agriculture and technical centres. Part of the Global Governance team, but based at a supply location within North America (preferably Plainfield), the role is key to assuring Diageo processes are implemented in a globally codified manner via IMPROVE programmes.
The purpose of the role is to take the annual roadmap created by the Global H&S TRANSFORM team and lead all IMPROVE work, implementing at pace in a standardised way. The role holder will work with market and site subject market experts to drive the successful implementation, embedding and sustaining of improvement programmes.
As a Health and Safety functional authority, you will have experience driving safety culture within a manufacturing/operations environment. This leadership position requires a certified qualified professional with experience in regulatory compliance, program development and management.
**Experience:**
A minimum of 10 years of senior industrial experience in Health & Safety, preferably within a manufacturing environment and preferably in food/drink, pharmaceutical or energy sectors delivering a similar programme with exposure to the following areas:

+ Systems & procedures implementation
+ Project management
+ An externally recognised Health & Safety qualification relevant to the role e.g 4 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. An advanced Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred
+ A preference is given to >5 years’ experience in a senior health and safety role with a track record of successful implementation of health and safety programs.
**Essential skills:**
+ In-depth knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations.
+ Proficient in risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation and root cause problem solving techniques.
+ Demonstrated proven ability working as a H&S professional within a manufacturing/ operation environment.
+ Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - ability to influence, persuade, convince, compromise and build consensus.
+ Ability to manage and prioritise multiple initiatives simultaneously.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively engage with and influence colleagues at all levels throughout the organisation.
+ High energy, strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to lead by example.
**Key Accountabilities:**
+ Engage the market on the Global H&S 5 year strategy.
+ Translate the Global TRANSFORM H&S deliverables and bring to market for execution.
+ Align annual roadmap implementation plans with markets including prioritisation and resource requirements.
+ Work with NAM and LAC supply/operational locations to implement the Global H&S IMPROVE agenda fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
+ Align with the market on annual prioritisation, implementation plans and resource requirements.
+ Collaborate with market supply leadership, site directors and H&S teams to bring clear roles and responsibilities to H&S engagements and priorities.
+ Collaborate closely with regional and local H&S teams to ensure compliance to Global H&S metrics.
+ Empowered and enabled by Global, ensure locations are aware of and are compliant to global policies, standards, ways of working, methods of analysis and critical metrics.
+ Provide guidance and expertise across incident investigations (including process safety) to support the development of root cause and preventive actions. Share lessons learned across all locations within the market and on a global basis.
+ Work with regional and local H&S teams to communicate life-threatening and life-altering potential incidents to global markets in an effort to preventive occurrence at another location.
+ Review H&S performance monthly via H&S leading (SFIP assessments, SIFp incident management, Global safety Alert program, action management, SIRC process, Behaviour Standard) and lagging indicators (TRAFR, LTAFR) - conduct ongoing trend analysis of incidents and incorporate learnings into intervention campaigns as required.
+ Deliver Global training initiatives to support the roll out of roadmap activities.
+ Oversee the output of the H&S self-assessment program to identify areas for improvement.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate H&S into all aspects of the business.
Generate regular reports for senior leaders, highlighting trends, areas of improvement and successes.
