Job OverviewThe Global IoT Solutions Manager role focuses on developing and integrating Smart Factory solutions by bridging IT and OT (Operational Technology) on the shop floor. drive the deployment of Smart Factory solutions by connecting and integrating leading-edge IT and OT (Operational Technology) infrastructure components. This role will focus on ensuring seamless communication between various systems, devices, and applications on the factory floor, utilizing MQTT and other lightweight communication protocols.
The Global IoT Solutions Manager will collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, plant maintenance teams, vendors, and technology partners to integrate industrial equipment (such as PLCs, robots, SCADA systems, MES, WMS, and QMS) with modern IoT infrastructure. His/her expertise will help enable smart factory capabilities such as predictive maintenance, process optimization, and real-time monitoring.
In addition to systems integration, this role will involve the development and standardization of IoT communication protocols and shop floor data standards. The Global IoT Solutions Manager will ensure interoperability across diverse devices and systems within the factory, ensuring that data is collected, transmitted, and processed efficiently and securely. By defining clear data and communication standards, you will support the seamless integration of legacy equipment with modern IoT solutions, contributing to a fully optimized and data-driven manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilitiesCollaborate with manufacturing engineers, plant maintenance teams, vendors and partners to connect IT and OT infrastructure components (Equipment, Robots, PLC, SCADA, MES, WMS, QMS etc.)on shopfloor to support deployment of Smart Factory Solutions using MQTT or other lightweight protocols.Support the development of next generation architectures to integrate industrial equipment, robots and IoT devices in the factory floor. This architecture will drive smart factory capabilities such as predictive maintenance, process optimization, and real-time monitoring.Develop techniques to integrate legacy manufacturing equipment with modern IoT infrastructure, using MQTT to bridge the gap and ensure that older systems can communicate efficiently with new IoT devices, sensors, and cloud-based applications.Manage code deployments, fixes, updates and related processes ensuring robust and seamless communication between devices and applications.Monitor and troubleshoot communication issues that may arise in both testing and production environments to guarantee continuous data flow across systemsSupport development of IoT applications that run on-premises and in the cloudDevelop and standardize best practices to support the seamless integration of existing automation systems using MQTT, facilitating the exchange of real-time data between PLCs, robots, sensors, and cloud applications.Support development of communication standards for sensors and IoT devices ensuring that all devices within the factory ecosystem are compatible, secure, and optimized for efficient data transfer.Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as neededPrimary ContactsS&PS leadership: Plant Managers, Regional Operations Directors, PCL and Engineering Leadership Divisional Facing ITEs and IT Mfg. and Mfg. Experience in configuring MQTT brokers and clients, managing QoS (Quality of Service), and ensuring secure, reliable communication across devices.Experience in Node Red, OPC Router and similar data ops platforms for protocol conversion.Proven ability to design/implement Global IoT Solutions Managerures that incorporate MQTT to connect devices, sensors, robots, and cloud services, enabling real-time data collection.Experience working with source control tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub)Understanding of multiple computer programming languages (eg: JavaScript, Typescript,C#, Python, C++, Java)Experience with databases and different types of data storageKnowledge of different project management methodologies such as Waterfall and AgileExcellent written and verbal communication skillsQualifications8+ years of relevant experience with BS or equivalent degreeExperience working with systems like SCADA, MES, WMS, and QMS, and integration of these system to develop Smart Factory solutions.Strong hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus TCP etc. and their application in connecting and integrating devices on the factory floor.Practical experience in Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, with a strong understanding of IoT security considerations (e.g., secure MQTT messaging, authentication, encryption) to protect sensitive manufacturing data and ensure network integritySolid background in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)Robot programming background (e.g. Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.)Some see differences.
