Tennant Company is currently seeking a Quality Engineer II to support the Global Operations team’s deployment of its Manufacturing Strategy. This will involve establishing new levels of engagement with global suppliers and third party providers, and building high quality supply chain capabilities within the network. Where applicable, this role will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and maturation of Tennant’s Quality Management System complying with ISO 9001.2015.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Lean solutions – waste reduction – share successes with other plants around the globe Identify, support and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projects Manage projects to develop new technologies & processes Create & implement standard work to drive consistency and improve productivity Lead Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizens) Define global processes and standards for machine inspection requirements Support New Product Engineering and new product launches Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to develop capable processes – leverage technology & design improvement where possible Learn Tennant’s H.E.A.T. (Hydraulics, Electrical, Adhesives & Torque) Program for best build practices Establish strong working relationships with key suppliers and third party providers to insure accountability for product and process quality Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards Estimate staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions Enact engineered poke yoke solutions on reoccurring quality issues Ensure the circulation and implementation of Quality Management System Guidelines across the network, in compliance with international standards and consistent with related “best practices” and company strategies: Guarantees all the activities required in order to achieve and maintain ISO Certification for the Quality Management System, in accordance with Company strategies Ensure reports and documentation about quality-related procedures which are implemented in the assigned site/plant Guarantee a continuous internal auditing in the assigned site/plant for the Quality Management System adopted Ensure the editing of reports about Quality indicators in the site/plant of his/her area of responsibility and the permanent monitoring of company process in accordance with company strategic plans
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic CAD / drawing knowledge Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to communicate and collaborate with peers and leaders to document and improve key processes
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering OR related field 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment and interfacing with parts suppliers 4+ years of experience working in an ISO environment 2+ years documenting and leading a site in the establishment of ISO systems Strong experience in calibration Experience in Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing. Experience using poke yoke thought processes and root cause corrective action Proven track record of innovation, ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail, ownership, integrity, accountability and willingness to seek challenging tasks/projects Six Sigma Black Belt and Formal Lean Training / Waste Reduction preferred Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning software Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
