The Global Medical Affairs Director (GMAD)- Gastroenterology (GI), under direction of the Head Global Immunology Medical Affairs - Gastroenterology, is responsible for oversight of GI therapeutic area/products within Global Medical Affairs, ensuring effective execution of Global Medical Affairs (GMA) data generation and dissemination strategies. This position supports the strategic objectives of the Global Medical Affairs function and the Global Medical Affairs Leaders (GMALs). The GMAD will partner with the GMALs in GI to manage the operational aspects of the Global Medical Affairs Function, including:
• Generation of a consolidated global medical affairs plan that meets prioritized regional needs
• Medical Affairs input into product development and life-cycle management
• Global Medical Affairs Team management
• Development and execution of the publication strategy/global publication plans
• Development and execution of GCSO funded medical strategies (e.g. advisory boards, scientific platform development, core slide decks, etc.)
• GMA Owned Cross-Pharma Policies and SOPs, such as Research Concept Approval Process/System (ReCAP), Publication SOP/System, Investigator-Initiated Studies Policy/SOPs, Collaborative Studies, Methods Review, Etc.
• GMA strategic planning process. Partner with the Global Medical Affairs Leaders in preparing robust Global Medical Affairs Plans for compounds in development that reflect prioritized regional and local needs.
• Global Integrated Evidence Generation Plans
• Global publication planning process. Manage the publications process. Ensure the development of publications follows the Cross-Pharma Publication Policy/SOP. Coordinate publication discussions in collaboration with agency partners and JJ stakeholders. Manage the relationship with editorial staff at key journals and key scientific and academic societies
• Co-lead the GMA GI business planning process, including the development of the global medical affairs plan and budget. Responsible for budget oversight for GMA TA or product.GMA SharePoint Site Management/Scientific and Knowledge Information Management
• Provides subject matter expertise for cross-pharma standard operating procedures and processes including ReCAP, Publications, Methods Review and ISS
• Track TA/Product performance metrics and develop plans to address any performance deviations.
• Acts as standing or ad-hoc member for various cross-functional teams, provides scientific/medical and operational perspectives to the global strategic organizations.Primary ownership for each of these accountabilities will be assigned to a GMAD.
• Manages the development, refinement and execution of global scientific communication strategy, including scientific communication platforms, global publication plan, internal knowledge exchange and dissemination in partnership with GMALs, TA VP, and DAS Leads, as appropriate
• Ensure optimal project and vendor management in the execution of GMA strategies and tactics; develop sourcing strategies and effective partnerships with vendors/agencies and other key external partners

• Immunology therapeutic area experience particularly GI is highly preferred
• Medical affairs experience is required
• Project management skills are preferred
• Ability to plan and tightly manage the scope of multiple projects while balancing multiple stakeholders preferred
• Strong organizational skills are preferred. Ability to drive projects forward to completion while maintaining focus on the long- term strategy is preferred
• Experience managing publication agencies and/or other medical affairs vendors (e.g., advisory board) is preferred
• In-depth knowledge of study methodology, data analysis techniques, and critical review of publications is required
• Budget and vendor management experience is preferred. Sound financial acumen and experience managing resources and budgets. Experience in strategic planning, business planning and cross-functional collaboration and alignment is preferred
• Global mindset with proven ability to partner cross culturally and regionally is preferred
• Proven experience in driving results in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment is required
• Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance principles and local/regional regulations and laws is a must
• Approximately 20% international travel is required
• This position is located in Horsham, PA and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remotely per week
