Global Medical Affairs Lead (Immunology) is responsible for providing medical affairs support for the immunology product under development, encompassing Phase 3 study through pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities, including pre-approval and approval processes.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Work with medical and cross-functional colleagues for generating, disseminating, and educating medical experts and key stakeholders on data and scientific information. Key stakeholders include internal colleagues and external groups such as academic institutions, patient advocacy groups, government authorities, NGOs, payers, lobbyists, media outlets, and other relevant organizations.
Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across Viatris, provide expertise as needed for medical discussions, including input into executive interactions.
Provide subject matter expertise in the assigned therapy area and assets incl. clinical evidence, standard of care, unmet needs, & competitive intelligence. Serve as a key medical resource for the disease area and specific products.
Oversee Innovative product medical strategy, provide guidance, medical inputs, and consultation to address medical issues for innovative products. Conduct medical and clinical reviews for potential innovative in-licensing opportunities.
Lead Medical Affairs engagement interfacing with key functions, including Regulatory and Marketing. Own the scientific planning process for innovative products (pre-launch and throughout lifecycle), including strategies for data generation, dissemination and KOL communications development.
Engage in external collaborations to gain insights and facilitate the development of our innovative products, life cycle plans and value maximization efforts to make a meaningful global health impact.
Responsible for reviewing manuscripts to ensure alignment with strategy and effective communication/presentation for internal and external audiences (e.g. Symposia).
Build visibility for the company’s innovative programs and projects through publications and presentations at relevant scientific meetings.
Possess a strong cultural understanding of different markets and the requirements for achieving a positive impact through quality, compliance, and integrity. Develop the in-year medical tactical plan and manage budget for global initiatives.
Collaborate with priority country medical affairs and cross functional colleagues to support for development plans, launch excellence, and post launch medical strategies.
Provide TA medical leadership through accountability for strategic medical initiatives to advance science, drive growth, mitigate risk, ensure business continuity, and foster TA leadership.
Lead functional plans (e.g. advisory boards, studies, publications, medical communications, medical information, medical education etc) supporting the global medical strategy.
Develop and maintain Global & Key Regional KOL panel, partner with KOLs and scientific associations for execution of key MA strategies. Share and educate KOLs on clinical trial data and information demonstrating clinical advantage vs current SoC for early support.
Increase awareness of the healthcare burden of current SLE treatments, their impact on patient and caregiver QoL, and the need for Tx options with easier administration.
Educate Immunologists and Rheumatologists on product differentiation, patient outcomes and the impact on reducing healthcare costs.
Ensure TA Training & capability development of medical teams across Viatris.
Participate in product development strategy and lifecycle management for global key brands. Identify unmet medical needs and provide input into the ideation process and assessment of new business opportunities.
Serve as a company scientific representative to engage external scientific leaders, policymakers, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities.
Develop diagnostic support tools to aid in the earlier and correct diagnosis of SLE patients. Educate and drive insights from patient advocacy groups (PAGs) on new Tx modality, including MoA, and improved outcomes. Design & develop patient solutions through patient journey mapping.
Ensure robust post-marketing surveillance, PV and RWE generation strategy and approach are in place to drive confidence in prescribing and support reimbursement.
Advocate compliance with the medical operating model.

Here are the minimum qualifications for this position:
Master’s degree or equivalent required. MD, Pharm D or PhD with relevant Immunology specialization preferred.
Minimum 8 to 10 years of Therapeutic Area and Regional Leadership experience is required. Eight to ten years portfolio/customer facing experience required.
Understanding of disease area (Immunology - Lupus), healthcare & pharmaceutical environment.
Global medical/commercial governance. Medical cross functions – Safety, clinical, regulatory etc.
Experience working in Matrix environment.
This role has flexibility to be based in US or Europe, with domestic and international travel requirements.
Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is: $151,000 - $314,000.
