Key Responsibilities:The Global Procurement organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods and services and developing/managing relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.
The Senior Specialist – Strategic Sourcing Global Procurement actively participates in strategic procurement activities, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, while maintaining and improving product quality and supplier service levels. This person partners closely with key stakeholders in member organizations and in support functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.
Support execution of category plans and procurement strategies for designated categoriesExecute and deliver across annual savings targetsMaintain category expertise (suppliers, rates, etc.) and contribute to supplier selection and benchmarks/bids when appropriateDevelop knowledge and expertise in a spend category as neededProactively maintain knowledge of diverse suppliers and offer options as appropriateLead Continuous Improvement initiatives within specific categoriesSupports supplier relationships, monitor contract compliance across all contracts, and actively manages procurement risk.Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders including Division Leads, Operational Field Team, Legal, IT Security to support department stakeholderCreate and manage Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to solicit bids and evaluate suppliersLeverage Coupa knowledge to streamline purchasing, track orders, and manage supplier relationshipsUtilize criteria such as cost, quality, delivery, and capacity to select the best suppliersQualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor's degree required3 years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Analytics, and/or FinanceStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExtensive planning and project management proficiencyDeep contracts and category knowledge; solid understanding of supplier economicsDemonstrated ability to make tough decisionsAbility to build strong and effective working relationships with internal business partners and suppliersMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help propel you from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, FinanceCPM (Certified Purchasing Manager)Strong internal and external negotiation and influencing skillsSuccessful, multi-year track record in ProcurementKnowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts and strategic procurement processExperience with Coupa or other Procurement/Spend Management platformsAbility to act as a change agent who seeks out and advocates for new and innovative solutions to meet business needsThe base pay range for this role is $79,800.00 to $108,790.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
