Global Seed Health Research Scientist 

 

As a Global Seed Health Research Scientist, you will lead innovative research initiatives aimed at addressing critical seed health testing challenges. Your work will involve developing cutting-edge assays, technologies, and processes to meet evolving business demands while supporting the seamless implementation of these advancements across regional quality testing labs. Additionally, you'll contribute to the International Seed Health Initiative (ISHI), ensuring that testing technologies stay at the forefront of the industry. Collaborating with a network of scientists, you will identify key opportunities to enhance testing efficiency, reduce turnaround times, lower costs (COGS), and elevate the quality of seed pathogen testing, making a lasting impact on Bayer’s global operations.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Enable global strategy and capability by driving assay standardization, method transfer and validation through collaboration with Seed Health testing community and with other Seed Health scientists in different geographical areas.Understand current quality testing lab workflows and challenges, assist leadership in identifying and implementing improvements related to productivity, capacity, cost, quality, and safety.Participate in ISHI workgroups to ensure our competitive advantage in seed health testing methods and technologies. Collaborate with regulatory team in the region to secure we capture regulatory changes in early phase. Define the research question and/or problem, conducts a literature review, formulates a hypothesis, and sets priorities, all in consultation with key stakeholders to drive new assay/technology development.Leverage insights from relevant colleagues by maintaining connections with peers, specialists as well as with representatives in Production, Seed Processing, SPI, Quality.Contribute to innovation with own ideas and can channel requests from Seed Processing to Vegetable Innovation and Seed Technology Solutions.Conduct research experiment independently to address issues associated with seed pathogen testing.Provide proactively data driven support and decisions by taking initiative and applying fast learning.Perform feasibility and validation studies for new assays.Responsible for phase 1-3 project management, statistical data analysis, reporting and communication.Work with seed health teams on implementation by cross-team collaboration, training lab personals on the technology.Develop project proposals, including cost estimates and financial justifications.Make use of company IT systems to document results and ensuring future Freedom to Operate.Ensure knowledge is kept and described in applicable management system and participate in internal & external audits.

 

 

WHO ARE YOU

Master with 3+ years in Plant Pathology or related field.Excellent communication – oral, written, and teamwork skills within a diverse organization.Experience in successful project management and completion.Strong background in molecular biology technologies.Strong problem-solving skills and focus on outcomes.Very strong ability to navigate in a multicultural environment with focus on collaboration and inclusion.Familiar with ISO17025 standard.
