ABOUT THE GLOBAL STRATEGIC LITIGATION COUNCILIn every region of the world, states violate core rights of refugees and other persons on the move. Lawyers and advocates are active in many countries, but their efforts tend to be isolated, producing ad hoc approaches to protecting refugee rights and minimal regional or global coordination. Recognizing this gap, the Global Strategic Litigation Council (‘the Council’) was founded in September 2021 to empower civil society to advance the rights of refugees and migrants worldwide through strategic litigation and legal advocacy.
Since its launch, the Council has connected over 275 litigators, refugee leaders, academics, advocates and organizations, from every continent of the globe. The Council helps its members to share knowledge, collectively identify priorities, and execute key litigation and legal advocacy strategies to defend and expand refugee and migrants’ rights.
