The Global Trade Compliance Leader is responsible for the Trade Compliance program at Cytiva - translating new and existing trade regulation into policies, training and operational process and providing supervision and advice to the the Global Trade Operations Team and to the business teams.
This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is part of the Legal organization, located in Amersham Place (UK) or Uppsala (Sweden) and will be an on-site role.
What you will do:
+ Act as strategic business advisor on global trade matters - Coordinating initiatives with Tax, Legal, Logistics, IT, Global Security, Warehouse, Plant and Finance teams to provide strategic and global input into supply chain decisions. Identifying areas of Import and Export risk and ensuring corrective actions are implemented, when necessary
+ Monitor updates to export control regulations, assess the impact to Cytiva systems and processes, and communicate impact to business partners. Coordinate with and advise regional trade and Cytiva commercial teams to implement process changes required due to regulatory updates.
+ Provide day to day trade compliance advise/guidance to associates in the business, trade and legal teams specially on topics outside of the supply chain process – Export Controls and Sanctions Guidance, Watchlist screening disposition and guidance that allows associates to self-disposition, Guidance on Sharing of controlled and non-controlled data, maintenance of Cytiva’s Technology Control Plan, Humanitarian business in Russia
+ Drive the Trade element of Cytiva’s general Compliance program in coordination with other members of the supply chain, legal and compliance teams.– Maintain internal Risk Assessment (ERM), present in leadership Compliance Review Boards, Develop and maintain adequate import and export compliance policies and related guidance globally, Develop and administer training (both online and in person) on export matters that reflect the latest developments in Trade Compliance regulations,
+ Support/lead internal investigations as needed (including oversight and guidance to the regions in the event of an external customs audit) and coordinate with internal and external legal counsel on escalations or self-disclosures
Who you are:
+ BS or BA degree in International Trade or related International Business field with minimum of 10 years of experience working in international trade controls, specifically experience with export classification, export license applications, watchlist screening disposition, and working with government authorities
+ Strong knowledge of the EAR, some familiarity of OFAC and non-US dual use export control regimes (e.g. Sweden - ISP, UK - ECJU, India – SCOMET, Belgium, SG, China, etc)
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional, global high intensity environment to set an accomplish strategic goals. Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize and be adaptable.
+ Strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills. Must be able to clearly and concisely articulate findings and summarize recommendations and work with others from different counties and at all levels within the organization
+ Strong IT skills, including using collaboration technologies such as MS Teams, Sharepoint, Excel and others to work together and follow up efficiently with global stakeholders.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
+ Ability to travel 10% of the time to Cytiva locations in US, Europe and Asia
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Licensed Customs Broker
+ Law graduate (Master of Laws) from a leading University
