Job Summary: 
The Global Trade Import Specialist will provide support to all areas of import compliance for CareFusion’s international business.  This role will be responsible for managing and maintaining trade compliance documentation including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification rulings, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Export Classification Control Number (ECCN) classifications, export licenses, Denied/Restricted Parties Screening (DRPS) filings, valuation documents, and other Customs entries.   The position will also involve working with cross-functional teams on customs clearance and regulatory issues, training, internal controls and audits, and various special projects as assigned.  

Responsibilities:

Work closely with purchasing, logistics, finance, legal, and other functions to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and international trade laws.

Assist in the resolution of any issues related to import compliance such as duty refund claims, rejected shipments, and liquidated damages penalties.

Support all aspects of regulatory compliance including but not limited to FTAs, DRPS, ECCN classifications, HTS classification rulings, and AES filings.

Maintain records associated with imports including but not limited to country of origin documentation, HTS classification rulings, FTA certificates, valuation documentation, DRPS screening results, AES filings, and bonded warehouse compliance.

Prepare customs entries and transmit them to Customs brokers for timely submission to CBP.

Monitor the status of customs entries and follow up with brokers as needed.

Ensure accurate valuation of imported goods per U.S. Customs guidelines.

Assist with recordkeeping requirements for customs entries, customs bonds, ACE, NAFTA, FTZs, AES, etc.

Coordinate with Customs brokers and foreign freight forwarders to ensure timely and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork and entries.

Audit customs entries and transactions for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.

Resolve discrepancies between transactions and documentation provided by freight forwarder or broker.

Create spreadsheets and reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting purposes.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent preferred.

Minimum of three years of experience in international trade compliance or Customs operations required.

Experience working with ERP systems, specifically SAP.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.

Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and export control regulations required.

Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Knowledge of Customs Automated Manifest System (AMS) required.

Experience with Denied/Restricted Party Screening software preferred.

Ability to read and interpret customs forms and documentation preferred.

Working knowledge of the Customs Modernization Act (CMA) and Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) preferred.

Familiarity with US Customs Automated Broker Interface (ABI) and Customs Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) preferred.
