The Role -
SDV SOFTWARE ENGINEER : Body Controls Calibration Specialist
Here at General Motors, we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Body Control Calibration team! BCM/ELM calibration engineers work with vehicles, software, and algorithms to design and release BCM/ELM calibrations to meet customer designs and performance requirements. They support the Lead Calibrator and Software Strategists, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team. These are meaningful roles that ensures the integration to vehicles performs at world class levels to meet program objectives.
This is a mid-level calibration position where the technical complexity, program scope, and program breadth combine to create a challenging role. A few cross-system interactions exist in this role, interpersonal interfaces are required, and programs have a global reach. The candidate has some experience motivating others, can manage multiple projects and deadlines, and has experience with several vehicle systems/component domains.
What you will do -
Follow documented procedures to calibrate systems to meet product goals, and provide feedback for continuous improvement (Calibration Bill of Materials - CALBOM)Develop Body Controls Configuration/Performance Calibrations for deployment to GM Vehicle ProgramsInvestigate and research calibration settings based on CALBOM notesHelp train new calibration engineers on calibration processesSupport requirements development with other activities to determine part proliferationAuthor Engineering Change Requests (ECR)Upload calibration bundle(s) for push to VeSComSupport root cause analysisLead troubleshooting activities for complex system issues across programsStrong ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data.Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practicesIdentify and document calibration vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions Attend software VSE meetings and report back required timingAdditional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) -
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering degreeMinimum of 12 years of technical and/or manufacturing engineering experienceExperience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problemsKnowledge of vehicle systemsUnderstanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanismsValid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehiclesWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) -
