Plant Overview:

The Kraft Heinz Massillon factory is engaged in the manufacture of frozen food products, most particularly, frozen dinner entrees, spinach dip, and kids’ meal under the brand name of Smart Ones, Smart Made, Devour, Kraft, TGI Fridays and Crave.  All items produced are frozen and under strict supervision of FDA, ODA, two (2) on-site federal USDA inspectors, and company quality inspectors.  The Massillon, Ohio factory currently employs approximately 370 salaried, non-union hourly and union hourly employees.  The Union hourly workers are represented by Local 17A of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union.

The factory currently operates production lines on day and afternoon shifts.  The midnight shift is dedicated to sanitation, maintenance and warehouse; disassembling, cleaning, completely sanitizing all production lines and equipment, and reassembling them in preparation for the next day’s production operation.  All products are micro-tested in the on-site Quality Assurance Laboratory.  The products manufactured at the Massillon factory are distributed throughout the United States and Canada through retail and warehouse club outlets.

Job Summary/Purpose:

Works closely with Health Care and Environmental Team Leader to update all policies, procedures and safety packets.  Maintains all employee safety and training logs and calendars and all training documentation. Provides medical assistance for minor illnesses and injuries, medical referrals and coordination of the local network of medical and rehabilitation specialists.

Essential Responsibilities:

·Participate/support the RMP (Risk Management Process) and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions. Responsible for updating MSDS sheets Maintains OSHA 300 log. ·The incumbent functions in a self-directed manner. Maintain regular communications as company’s liaison with the medical community and insurance companies. Maintains confidential medical records of all personnel evaluated by the medical specialists. Maintains the confidentiality of employee’s personal health information. Monitors all workers’ compensation cases from the initial report of injury through medical treatment, rehabilitation and return to work.  Communicate with physicians, physical therapists, employees and insurance carrier to maintain current information on open compensation cases and/or accident sickness benefits.  Responsible for day-to-day interaction with Workers’ Compensation third party administrators to insure timely, accurate claims management.  Maintains all workers’ compensation files in accordance with the state requirements. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations as they apply to occupational and non-occupational safety, health and workers’ compensation. Participates in plant safety committee meetings. Respond to medical emergencies occurring on company property and administer first aid and/or medical assistance as needed.  Provide injured employees with information on sources of additional medical treatment. Coordinate/implement annual audiograms. Provides administrative/clerical support for Loss Prevention Manager and all workers’ compensation. Responsible for maintaining all Salaried, Non-Union Hourly and Union Hourly employee medical/benefit files. Responsible for being the contact person, determination, tracking and administration of all FMLA’s and LOA’s for Salaried, Non-Union Hourly and Union Hourly employees. Responsible for administering all pre-scheduled appointments for Non-Union Hourly and Union Hourly employees. Maintain an adequate supply of medical, safety and health supplies throughout the factory. As necessary, other duties and/or projects may be assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Associates Degree in Emergency management or related field preferred Three to five years minimum administrative skills Proficient working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation laws in the State of Ohio.  Prefer experience in self-insured program Certified in Standard First Aid, CPR/AED – Adult certification and Bloodborne Pathogens Training: PDT Proficient working knowledge of FMLA; determination, tracking and administration Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently Good problem solving and decision making skills Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities Proficient administrative skills Ability to develop a professional rapport with employees, management and medical legal specialists. Able to think clearly and react effectively in medical emergency situations Experience in an industrial setting is desirable Knowledge of industrial safety programs Ability to work flexible hourly schedule to include: days, afternoons, midnight’s, and weekends Proficient computer skills with programs such as Excel, Word, E-mail Proficient skills in calculating figures and applies basic business math

While performing this job incumbent is regularly required to use: hands, fingers, talk, stand, walk, sit reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crawl  Occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds  Will be required to respond to medical needs in the production areas
