Golf Course Mechanic

In this role, you will be responsible for the shop condition (cleanliness, organization, and functionality), safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, and mechanical equipment. Collaborate closely with the Director of Agronomy/ Assistant Superintendents/ Course Mechanics to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it is available for daily use on the golf course.

JOB DETAILS
Responsibilities: Prepare purchases based on inventory control and budget. Review all purchases with the Supervisor on duty. Maintain budget with parts purchases and tool purchases. All purchases must have Director /Assistant superintendent authorization. Prioritize equipment repairs with other mechanics based on the next days’ needs. Ensure all records kept and updated to Ka’anapali standards, utilizing ASB task Tracker, excel, or other computer programs as directed. Ensure OSHA requirements followed in the shop, recycling, and disposal of used material, including batteries and hazardous materials. (Oil, old parts, bed knives, reels, tires) Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repair. If a piece of equipment is not working properly it needs to be tagged and parked aside to eliminate improper/unsafe use and communicated to the supervisor with expected duration before repairs can be made. Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems. Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearing and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors, hybrid systems, and hoses. Install batteries, tires, lights, and glass. Adjust and sharpen reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units after units go out each day. Mowers will be checked in for use the next day. Greens mowers reels will be ground monthly if not sooner based on amount of use and topdressing practices. Reels should not be back lapped, unless an emergency, if they are not cutting, reels need to be ground to achieve a consistent quality of cut. Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting. Follow planned maintenance procedures and record keeping. Maintain parts inventory necessary for efficient equipment repairs. This includes belts, tires, batteries, sprayer hose, nozzles, and other wearable parts. Preform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: The employee is often required to stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, bend, and kneel for five hours at a time without sitting. Required to repair, maintain, and monitor equipment performance – Regularly Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.  Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Daily exposure to dusts and pollens Noise level is typically loud Required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 80 pounds – Frequently Ability to drive a motor vehicle – Frequently Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Minimum Requirements for the Mechanic: Mechanic certificate from gas and diesel engine training preferred; and two to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience. Must have a valid Driver's License. Other Qualifications: Regular and reliable attendance. Ability to communicate in Ilocano or Tagalog to assist in translations and training of our team members.
